Vale's P.O.V.
"Hey stranger."
Turning my head, I see Padme walking up to me with a shy smile. I offer her a smile in return as she comes into the pod I'm sitting in. We're in the Coruscant Senate building; there was a meeting held moments ago but just ended.
Senators from all over the galaxy are here. Most are leaving the grand senate hall, but there are a few stragglers such as Padme and myself. Mace Windu and Yoda were with me sitting in this pod, listening to the meeting, but have already left.
I have a lot on my mind and have been just sitting here thinking about it all when Padme noticed me. She comes to sit in the chair beside me; she's in a beautiful senator attire while I'm in my everyday mission clothing. Leaning back in my chair, I say the first thing that pops into my head about Padme.
"I know I should have come to see you-"
"It's alright."
Padme interrupts me while shaking her head. I nod to her in thanks before glancing to the center of the Senate where my father was just at. I bite my bottom lip as I think about what he spoke to me a few days ago.
"Have you noticed... A shift." I blurt out in a low tone while keeping my eyes on the Supreme Chancellor's chair. "As in a change in my father's principles?"
"Well, war changes people and principles."
Padme points out knowingly, and I smile in sorrow. There's a pause between us, and I can sense neither of us knows exactly what to say to one another. This might be the first time we don't know how to start a conversation.
Usually, it would start with us swapping secrets or trading stories. Yet, none of my stories are something people want to hear. I sense Padme is too nervous to tell me her secrets in the Senate building since people are still lingering around us.
"Are you doing well?" I hear Padme think out loud into the silence. Turning my head to meet her eyes, I shrug my shoulders and admit. "As well as anyone could be right now... And you?"
"About the same." She confesses, trying to smile. I let out a breath, trying to figure out what I should say next, before blurting out. "You look great, by the way."
"Thank you." She chuckles before her eyes dart to the floor. The next moment, she meets my eyes and mumbles in a sad tone. "I wish I could say the same about you."
"What? You don't think I look good?" I ask in a teasingly shock voice, making up both laugh quietly. Smirking at her, I push back my hair and state knowingly. "You've always been the pretty one, anyway."
"Not to Obi-Wan." Padme raises an eyebrow, causing me to roll my eyes. I lift my feet to rest on top of the table in the pod and sigh dramatically. "Kenobi just has a thing for blondes."
It was only yesterday when Obi-Wan found me in a died ship on the Clone Base. He had kissed me in a way that only frustrated me yet still make me weak at the knees. I'm trying to not fall back into our old habits, but of course Obi-Wan's making it very difficult from him just being him.
"Obi-Wan is just a friend now."
I inform Padme so that she at least knows my intensions with Kenobi. Hearing her snort, I glance to her and find her wearing an amused expression. Frowning at her girlish reaction, I snap lightly with a crooked smile.
"You don't believe me?"
"Not in the slightest, V." She answers immediately before sending me a look. "I don't think you and Obi-Wan ever knew how to be just friends... And I'm sure something has already transpired between the two of you."
