24. Birthday party

It's been a little over two weeks after our 'date' which means it's Lucas' birthday tomorrow and I'm gonna throw a party for him. Right now I'm buying things to decorate for the party.

I asked him about celebrating his birthday at his house but he insisted that we celebrate at my place. I've never been to his house and I know nothing about his family. He becomes tense whenever I ask about his family. So I stopped asking since it was uncomfortable for him. But I am aware that something is bugging him.

"Hm....red or blue?" I looked back and forth between two party hats.

"...you know what , I'll take them both" I placed both hats on my cart where birthday stuff is piling up , and walked to the next aisle.

I don't know if it's just my imagination but I think Lucas and I have grown more close during these past few days.He is nice to me and I enjoy his company. And I would be lying if I say I don't have a crush on him.

There. I said it. I have a crush on him.

How the hell would someone like Lucas like me back? So I have no plans on confession. I'll keep it a secret and admire him from afar. I guess that's kinda creepy.

I don't know what's between us but I'm gonna keep it the way it is. I don't want to mess things up by confessing.

"Hmm..I think I got everything I need" I nodded to myself.

With that I left the store with tons of birthday decoration stuff.

Thank god its weekend so we don't need to worry about school. I invited Brian and Mia to help me decorate.

I was filling up balloons with air, when Mia asked " Are you gonna give him something?You know, as a present?"

"Not gonna tell you" I replied without facing her and continued filling air into the balloon.

Mia pouted, which made me chuckle.

"I'm gonna call him now" I said, phone in hand.

"Ok call him" Mia replied.

I dialled his number and waited for him to pick up on the other line.

"Cupcake!" Lucas picked up after two rings.

"Hey.. um..come over to my place?" I blurted out.

"Why this late?Hm.... Miss me?" Lucas chuckled.

"It's... just..I'll  tell you when you get here"

"Hey..You okay?" Lucas asked , concerned.

"Yeah..I'm good" I was fidgeting with the sleeve of my sweater so hard that some yarn got tangled.

"Okay. I'll be there in a bit" Lucas replied and hung up.

I sighed in relief and turned back to find mia holding a giggle.

"What!?"  I asked despite the visible blush on my cheeks.

"You guys are adorable. Right Brian?" Mia turned to Brian who was already looking at her.

"What?Yeah..right" Brian stuttered.

"I think I forgot something. Be right back." I tiptoed to the next room.

"Gosh. It's obvious they have feelings for each other. Why dont they date already?" I shook my head in disbelief.

I thought back to what Mia asked me earlier. About what I was gonna gift him.
