Gold began wandering the castle. Having not seen her brother since he left the assembly, she began her search for him. Yet she also couldn't help feeling that she was being watched.
"Be weary, Gold." A voice spoke in her head. A voice, she recognized, as the voice of Mistress Wendigo Salim, her teacher, and Guardian.
"Mistress Salim?" She exclaimed, looking around. "Is that you?" Gold could not find the source of the voice anywhere. "Where are you?"
"I've chosen her voice, as a means to speak with you." The voice continued. "Heed my warning, my child. The Hand of Threngar is near. And only together, can you stop it." As suddenly as the voice appeared, it vanished.
"Mistress Gold!" The young mistress of Fire heard a feminine voice behind her, breaking her from her trance. Turning, she was met by Grenadine. "Lyna just told me something interesting."
"We're Family, Grenadine." Gold stated. "You don't need to call me Mistress." Both girls chuckled. "What did Lyna tell you?" Grenadine readied herself.
"You remember how Silver said he saw your parents?" Grenadine asked. The mistress of Fire, nodded, wondering where she was going with this. "He saw Tao Ren, and the Original Elemental Master of Fire as well. They spoke to him."
"What did they say?" Gold asked, curious. The words of the voice in her head, still playing out. Then she knew. She knew exactly what Grenadine was going to say.
"They said, and I might be butchering this." Grenadine said. "They said that you and Silver share their powers. And only together, can you hope to defeat The Hand of Threngar, and end a quarrel that began over a millennia ago."
"I was afraid you were going to say that." Gold said, scared. She went on to explain to Grenadine, about the voice she had heard not long ago. "Please, ask the guards to do another sweep of the castle. Tell them to search everywhere, including places Silver said were off limits." The older Elemental Mistress bowed, and walked off, in a hurry.
Gold then began making her way to Silver's office. He wondered if there was anything he had missed in the books about The Hand.
She approached the corridor, where his office was, having left there not long ago, she expected the corridor to be vacant. But it wasn't. There were guards standing outside the office door, talking about a beautiful aurora, and a mess.
Gold started her approach, but was stopped by a guard. "I'm sorry to disturb you MiLady, but we may have found something." The guard stated. "We checked Richter's office, and it appears that someone has been living there for quite some time."
Gold, in a panic, ran to Silver's office. Pushing her way through the guards, she found broken glass everywhere. But what scared her the most, was the broken bay window, at the back of the room.
She turned to a guard. "Fetch Terry, Gerry, Gail, Lyna, Thraxis, Dresnia, Stormie, and Grant!" She hollered. "Bring then here! NOW!" The guards, scared of the girl, ran off.
Gold then ran to the broken window, and looking out, saw a horrific sight. Silver fighting Loran Silverlance in the courtyard, Silver not being able to fight back. She could hear screams of pain, emanating from the aurora above the conflict. She felt, deep in her core, the pain the Elements were in.
Gold watched, as Silver was thrown into the castle wall by a sandstorm. She couldn't hear what was being said, but she couldn't help herself. She reached her head out the window.
"SILVER!"
