Today would be the first day of training. The girl woke up just before dawn, a habit of hers, and she could see the sunrise from her room. She loved watching sunrises, but now she was reminded that this might be the last time she would see something as beautiful as the earth has to offer. Slowly, she arrived at the table where her mentors and Jacob were present. The other team members were still sleeping, they didn't have to wake up so early. After greeting everyone, she began to eat.

Cecelia hated the Hunger Games.

Every year she had to train two young kids and watch them die. She had tried to put into practice the advice of the Victors before and not care about the kids. Only, every year a drop of hope came to tell her that maybe one of them would survive. That's why she was going to do everything she could to help them even if at the end her heart was shattered.

"Today is your fist day of training so we need to know what you're good at?" Cecelia said.

"I worked all my life in the industries or as a shoeshiner. I can't fight and I'm not strong by nature nor am a genius." Aria tried to not give him pity eyes, but she knew he won't make it far.

"I suggest you to hide and avoid fight at all cost. During the training learn more how to hunt and survival things." Jonathan said while Jacob nodded.

"My dad "trained" me since I was ten. Since we didn't have much money, I only learned the basic of hunting and how to fight. My parents own a tailor store, I've worked all my life there."

"I suggest you to work on your offensive skill. Learn how to use weapons and survival skill like snares." Cecelia replied.

"I'm afraid to be alone in the arena. I hate being alone," Jacob said as he played with his food.

"Even if you don't see us, we're going to be there. We'll be watching over you so don't be afraid. Just focus on winning." Jonathan said while smiling at him.

"Don't worry about being alone. We're ally, aren't we? I won't let my district partner on his own." She hopped it brought him some comfort.

Once Aria arrived to the training field the instructor gave them a little speech about the rules and some advice. The careers pack were smirking and snickering like they already won the thing, Aria scoffed.

When the speech was done all the careers went to the weapon station, they were predictable. She directed herself toward the snares station and passed all her morning here.

No one was paying attention to her so the redhead took this opportunity to spy on others. Her eyes met Foxface's face first. She practiced recognizing the different species of plants and Aria had to admit, she was good. She took note that she was of the intellectual type. She averted her eyes to Thresh. He was in the knot section. He didn't seem to have any difficulty doing the exercises. She understood that he was not only strong and tall, but also capable of learning the basics of survival.

This was not the case for Cato. He tried to make a fire, but was unsuccessful at all. She felt a little bit of pity for him. Seeing him shrugged and wanted to help him, however, she held back herself immediately. This was the Hunger Games. She couldn't help the first comer and especially not a career, the biggest threat here. I need to take every advantage I can. He stopped his attempt to learn a few survival things and moved on to the swords. Cato Hadley was better in combat than survival, to note.

Aria continued to observe each participant at a time for hours, watching each one of their moves like a wolf waiting to attack his prey. See if they were right handed or left handed, if they were the nervous type, what their weaknesses and strength were.

When she was little, her grandma always said that to know someone, you needed to look at them when they thought no one care about them. The situation wasn't the best to use this method since their every moves gave them a chance to get sponsors.

There was only one person Aria couldn't quite understand; Clove. She already knew she was strong and smart, but felt like there was more. They looked at each other for a long time several times during training without ever speaking to each other. She always had to smirk or did her expressionless face. It made her want to know more. She was lethal and it made Aria even more excited to discover the real Clove Kentwell.

She loved beautiful things and Clove Kentwell was one.

When practice ended a lot of Tributes rushed towards the elevators, but she stayed behind until everyone had left to have a elevator all to herself.

As she got into the elevator, Aria hit her floor button and watched the doors close when a hand hold the door and laughter came in. She recognized the face of Cato and the other careers that entered the elevator afterwards. When they saw Aria, they were all smirking. Marvel, Cato and Glimmer stood back while Clove stood next to her. Glimmer was the first to speak to Aria.

"So Eight, how was it to spy on us all day? Hope you didn't think nobody had seen you. Subtlety really isn't your strong suit." They were all snickering and Aria felt anger rising. I can't let them walk over me.

" Subtlety might not be my strong suit, but your archery skills are beyond low. I would even say mediocre."

"What did you just say there Eight? I'm going to kill you in that arena so be careful." Aria had already seen enough about her skill to know that she was the less threatening career in the four of them. She still needed to be cautious though.

"I'm not afraid of your threats. They are only syllables escaping from your mouths, but nothing is do. You are just talk and not people of actions. I am Aria Yrwin and I won't be afraid. Not by you or anyone because..because I have to come back to my family. I promised myself to." She probably was going to die, but she needed to go back home. At least try even if she was petrified at the idea of ending someone. For a second, the career pack stared at her and she realized the error she did by insulting them until laughter was heard.

"You are funny Eight." Marvel says before leaving the elevator with Glimmer.

"I can't wait to kill you." Cato said which send her goosebumps before leaving followed by Clove smirked and said. "Better keep these ribbons of yours. Try to strangle someone with it. You should think about what you're saying because I am someone of actions. If I ever hear you insult us I will be your worst nightmare till your last breath."

The district 8's female Tribute got to her floor and was greeted by everyone, she smiled at them and joined them at the table to tell them about her training day without mentioning the elevator event.
