I closed the door to my blue Ford Mustang, and ran my fingers through my dark brown curls. I turned around, heading for Ricky's front door.
The hot Arizona sun was beating down on me, the breeze blowing my hair behind my shoulders as I made my way up to the porch.
Ricky was holding a family and friend get together at his house, and decided to invite me while he was visiting in Arizona. We were best friends in high school, but when he moved to Alabama for college, we grew further and further apart. I never complained though, I knew he wanted to go to college and get a job, and I wasn't going to stop him.
The door flew open to a smiling Ricky who held his arms wide open to me.
"Juilet!" he exclaimed, and I happily walked into his embrace.
"Hey, Ricky."
"How have you been?" he asked, inviting me in gladly, closing the door behind me.
"I'm great, how are you? How's school?" I ask.
"It's awesome. C'mon, I'll introduce you to some people. My mom's real excited to see you again."
I smiled, and followed him into the livingle room, where I was greeted by Mrs Dillon.
"Juliet, it's so good to see you again!" she exclaimed, wrapping her arms around me.
"You too Mrs. Dillon."
"Ricky's very happy to see you." she winks and laughs.
"It's good to see him too." I giggle.
"Mom!" Ricky protests, taking my arm.
"I'm sorry, go have fun kids." she says and Ricky leads me to the opposite side of the room.
"Sorry about that." he says.
"It's fine."
I looked around, the house really transformed since I was here last.
The walls were a deep blue, which made the light cream-colored couches pop, along with a big family portrait hanging over the mantle. Pictures lined the mantle, each different pictures. Some of Ricky and siblings, Mr. and Mrs. Dillon's wedding, and the last ones my eyes came across was the one of Ricky and I at prom.
I smiled, remebering all the memories of high school.
The late nights, studying for finals with Ricky, or just hanging out with him. It seemed perfect.
"Do you want to go meet some of my friends?" he asked, bringing me out of my thoughts.
"Sure." I said eagerly, following Ricky into the backyard where two guys were sitting.
"Hey guys! I want you to meet someone!" Ricky said, running down the deck stairs.
They both turned their heads, and smiled when their eyes came across mine.
"This must be Juliet." One of them said, smiling at Ricky.
"Yep, I'm the famous Juliet." I laugh and walk over to them.
"I'm Jc." the shorter one says, offering his hand.
I shake it. "Nice to meet you."
"I'm Ricardo." the taller one says, doing the same.
"Nice to meet you too."
"Where's Connor?" Ricky asks Jc and Ricardo.
"Bathroom. He should be back in the next ten minutes." Jc jokes, getting a laugh from everyone.
