There perched on the cliffs edge stood a woman in her mid twenties, she observed the sea under the nights sky. She was at peace, she could finally relax for the unfortunates that have followed her most of her life have vanished. Satan, her beloved, her savior and blessing helped her overcome her problems. She could not describe how euphoric she felt, as if she was dreaming, she was lightly being caressed and told soft promises. His promises were of certainty, for he could break the curse.
Her family had cursed her to an eternity of loneliness, to never find love or family wherever she went. They said that a child such as her didn't deserve love and acceptance for her sins were too severe. She tried to cause a revolution against the nobles of her homeland, she gathered people and allies that joined her cause but they were too weak, they crumbled quickly. They didn't have enough influence, the woman's family was scared, they outcasted her and cursed her for putting them in danger.
That was a dark time for the young adult, lost and afraid, she travelled island to island in search of kin to kindle her loneliness. But all was for a not, for she remembered her mothers words,
"She who had uprised and forsaken our safety, damned to a lifetime of loneliness and misery for she is a sinner!".
So she settled down on a tropical island, for away from the other habitants and built herself a small cabin on a cliff. She would pray each night by her nightstand with her Bible in hand to God and ask for forgiveness. Each day, she would read a few pages after tending to her chores. She came to a conclusion, God would never help her for he never liked change, he was a tyrant, he wanted puppets, not creative minds and freedom of speech. She found that she and Satan were very much alike, revolted and got outcasted by their families, deemed evil for their feelings. So she soon prayed to a new entity, danced under the moon and became one with nature, she was in a state of bliss. She was freedom itself, she wouldn't be tied down by other peoples beliefs anymore.
Eventually, one night whilst the woman was dancing around the fire, a handsome man approached her. He wore a half unbuttoned tunic and slacks, his ebony hair was slicked back and piercing amber eyes gazing into her eyes. She continued to dance while scanning him curiously, until he spoke up,
"A lovely night out, wouldn't you say?, amber eyes twinkled , "A great night to enjoy another's presence".
She tilted her head, "Would you like to join me?, murmured the woman amicably, I could certainly use the company".
The man smiled, walked towards her and grasped her dainty hands in his. Brought her towards him gently and twirled her,
"What's a fetching young woman as yourself doing alone, on such a beautiful night?".
She leaned towards his ear and whispered, "Would you believe me if I told you I was cursed?, the man tilted his head in inquiry as she continued, the curse of solitude".
He hummed peering into her eyes knowingly, "I am considered a sinner, my kin abandoned me, they are the cause of my fate".
She brushed hair behind his ear, slid a hand down his jaw and asked, "Does that bother you?, to be in the presence of a sinner, God does not love me, he's abandoned me".
He enchantingly replied, "Aren't we all sinners in the eyes of God, we who seek freedom, acknowledgement and pleasure, grazing her bottom lip with his thumb, who wouldn't indulge?"
She shuddered, goosebumps trailing down her neck as she switched her gazed between his lips and mischievous eyes.
"I could wash away all of your sins away, he temptingly purred, in my eyes you're perfect, he hummed excitedly, what do you think?".
She was rendered speechless, something about this situation felt so entrancing, it felt so right, this charming man whispered such pretty promises, she couldn't resist such temptation. Such refuge was welcomed after so many years of isolation, she gracefully captured his lips and uttered blissfully,
"Wash all my sins away". As night passed and dawn came, she felt a strong sense tranquility pass over her. She slowly got out of bed and took a warm bath, as she got out and dressed, she walked to the garden and tended to her crops. The woman noticed an ocelot cub prancing towards her, it circled her excitably and jumped at her legs, she slowly bent down and lowered her knuckles near their nose. The ocelot purred, licked her hand and rubbed itself against her palm.
The woman carefully picked up the wild cat and went into her house to offer some dried fish to the cub. While it was eating she continued on with her chores as the feline followed her around and played with her feet. As each day passed by, the ocelot stayed by her side and ran around her house often coming back with freesias in her jaw, dropping them by her front door or by her feet.
Each time the cub come back with the white flowers, the more curious she became about their meaning, as she went to the nearest town to shop for ingredients she stopped by the florist and asked what the meaning of freesias were and she was pleasantly surprised. The young woman was even more so when the man running the shop said to stop by next time, as she continued on with her purchases each person she encountered was very kind to her, they weren't in a hurry to drive her away.
As she walked back home she saw the cub waiting for her in the garden sleeping. She crouched down and caressed the feline as she thought of her experience in the town. She was finally free, for she had Freesia with her, she was truly blessed.
"Freesia, she hummed happily, Freesia wake up", the cat stirred, blinked its eyes open sleepily and yawned widely. Awing at her adorableness, the woman picked Freesia up and smothered her with kisses as she purred contently.
As the sun was setting, she sat on the edge of the cliff and contemplated, this was her new beginning, this was the place she would be reborn.
As she rubbed her thigh, she looked down at the pentacle dwelling there, she realized, "Lucifer.., she whispered,he..that was him".
Whilst she looked up at stars, she asked, "Lucifer, what should my new name be?", she felt the wind nudge her head and saw the fire light brighter. "Amber", she tested, it felt right, it was just like the color of his eyes.
