July 30th, 1914
War:
It has been two days, and this war is no different than what they told us at home. While there have been few casualties so far, which are expected, nothing big has happened. Based on the battles I've fought, it would seem that this war shouldn't last too long. It will probably last for two years, so don't worry. I promise that I'll come home to you safe and sound. All I have to ask and wonder at this moment is how you are doing at home.
