Kuroo's Pov

"Kenma-san!" Kuroo yelled euphorically. He was thrilled to tell Kenma about how he got accepted into the college of his dreams, except, Kenma was nowhere to be found. He looked around the gym, in all the nooks and crannies and all of Kozume's favourite hiding spots. But there was no trace of him.

Kuroo sprung to his feet and immediately went to scower the streets to find Nekoma's most skilled setter.

As he ran around the streets, to no avail, a thought popped up into his mind.
What if he was hiding in the treehouse they built when they were 14? The one hiding in the lucious bright trees, where his parents couldn't dare to find them since it was so far away from the house.

He sprinted to the house and found out the door was locked. As he desperately tried to wiggle the doorknob open, he heard a small gasp and some sheets falling on the ground. So he was in there.
"Kenma! Open up! I have good news for you!!"

Kenma's Pov

"Stay calm Kozume. Stay calm." He muttered to himself as he leaned against the door, hearing the pleads of his best friend to come in. He couldn't. He didn't want to. He was afraid he would say something that would hurt their friendship.
His eyes glanced around the room for no reason other than looking for something to distract him. He knew Kuroo wasn't straight, so why was this feeling lingering in his chest?

He took a deep breath. "Okay okay...Calm down Kenma." Kenma said softly as he unlocked the feeble door. The spikey black-haired male tackled Kozume which made him giggle.

"Kenma-san! I have some really good news to tell you!" A soft smile formed on Kenma's face as he looked at his friend with love in his eyes. "I have...something to tell you too, Kuroo." He murmured.

Kuroo looked at him excitedly, but they weren't thinking the same thing.
"Okay. You go first then"
"Kuroo-san no"
"Pleaseeee Kenmaaaa"
"No"
Kuroo leaned on Kenma and whined as he pouted like a little child, until they came to a decision.

"Fine. We'll say it together." Kenma suggested. Kuroo's eyes lit up once more as he sat up and nodded eagerly.

"3..."
Kenma was terrified. He didn't want to say it.

"2..."
It was all such a new experience. Tears were welling up in his eyes as his chest tightened.

"1..."
It was getting harder to breathe. Was it a panic attack? Or an anxiety attack? Or maybe he was just so frightened that his brain was going blank, drifting out of consciousness and he was going to faint on himself?

....

Time was passing slowly. It didn't feel like my body was in the room. Although my eyes were open, the place was dark. Did I die out of fear?... My body feels like it's floating in space. I can't keep my head above the surface of this endless pool of thoughts. I took a final gasp of air, but it wasn't painful. My lungs were just numb; I could hear my heartbeat oh so clearly through my own ears. It was echoing through this limitless room, but it also felt like only I could hear it. There's nothing else of my old life to spare now. My body was now cold, and my eyes were still open. My eyelids grew heavy and I was struggling to keep them open. After a while, I stopped fighting, but not on my own will. My body was now paralyzed; stuck in one place, and also very very relaxed. My eyes closed slowly until I saw a bright white light, and then Kuroo-san's sillhouette.

He opened his eyes again, to a very sad, pensive, and...overall guilty look on Kuroo's face.
Shit.
Did he say something while he was spacing out?
