September 7, 1940, the day of the London Blitz
CHAPTER ONE
Hadrian Renè Wilson was having a splendid day, his parents had taken him outside to go get ice cream. He got a marvelous slingshot for his birthday, he even got to see his grandparents! It was a perfect day for Avery, up until it hit 4 in the evening.
Hadrian had just been looking out the window when it started shaking. Not even a moment later, bombs were falling out of the sky. At that moment Hadrian knew that the Germans had attacked. Not even in the blink of an eye Mrs. Wilson had grabbed Hadrian and ran to the basement, A benefit if you may call it of living in an old house.
One bomb fell, after another. Hadrian never thought that he would be this terrified his entire life. Two bombs, five more bombs. Oh how Hadrian wanted this to all end, Hadrian never left his mother's embrace. After a couple more hours, the bombs had stopped. Though Hadrian knew that the new found peace wouldn't last long.
Though it gave the mother and son an opportunity to grab important belongings like money or jewelry. After they gathered up their belongings they went outside, where a police officer was gathering up people to take them to the underground subways for protection.
Hadrian didn't feel even a tiny bit safe, he was terrified about the bombs smashing into the subway and killing them all. It didn't help that Hadrian was antisocial and didn't like being around people, and with almost half a million people all in the subway. Hadrian couldn't think straight, with being around all theses people. The only people Hadrian could stand were his mother, Mrs. Evans, his best mate Thomas Wishmore, and his father.
His father? Oh god forbid.
"Mother, god forbid, what happened to father?" Hadrian asked in an ever so softly voice of his. The boy's mother turned to him and waved her hand to signal for her son to come closer. Hadrian fell to his mother's embrace and closed his eyes. His mother whispered to his ear.
"Your father is gathering people like the young man that gathered us up to safety, I'm sure he's just fine."
"How can you be so sure, if you haven't seen him since he went to work?" Hadrian asked. Mrs. Wilson's heartbeat raced faster than before and her eyes had a nervous gleam.
"I'm sure of it, Renè." She said, her voice cracking a bit.
CHAPTER TWO
Hadrian had been sitting with Thomas for quite a bit of time. Both were eating bread that had been given to them there.
"To the devil with those Germans," Thomas had exclaimed, "They really are the reason why this war happened."
"Thomas!" Hadrian yelled softly. Then lightly punched him, Thomas glared at him. " You can't blame all the Germans, blame the people who want this war, to cause disorder with peace.'' Hadrian lectured him.
In the end, Thomas gave up, he had said that arguing with Hadrian was pointless since Hadrian is too stubborn for his own good.

It had been four days since London was attacked, and more people arrived. Some were injured, some almost dead, and some had found safety and didn't get hurt. Hadrian was getting more anxious by the day, he had caught his mother crying a water fountain, Thomas's parents hadn't returned, and he was so terrified that he kept shaking.
But the worst part of Hadrian's fear was if his father was ever going to return.
Of course, he had his mother, and he doesn't see him very often. But John was still his father, god forbid anything happened to his father.
