The storm had cleared a while ago. A silence had settled in its absence. More precisely a low hum of silence that was perforated with scuffs of my shoes on the cement.
I had a father? Of course I knew I had one, its basic human biology, but to know who it is... "How do you know? My mother was used by others. And why did you not stop them!"
Alpha looked up to the ceiling window, he closed his eyes. "Your mother was captured before I joined the rouges. I came along after the abuse. I claimed her as mine to stop them from hurting her. I healed your mother physically and mentally. She finally accepted me after months of begging. We had you only a little while after." He motioned for me to sit down. I sat cross legged in front of him.
He smiled at me before continuing to talk. "You should know that your mother picked out your name. I wanted to name you Amber Selene, yellow moon. The kind of moon that was shining in the sky the night you were born."
"I was born at night?" I interrupted.
"Yes. A clear, full moon night. The moon was so bright it was like daytime. I wanted to honor the moon goddess for giving us such a night but your mother said the moon goddess had nothing to do with your life. I gave in and let her name you. Sarina Alisha Keerin. Sarina, meaning serene and calm; you didn't cry at your birth, just huddled close to the blanket I wrapped around you. Alisha, meaning noble and kind if you dig deep in its namesakes; you smiled the sweetest, toothless smile I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. My only and dearest daughter, Sarina..." He brushed his hand against my cheek lovingly and smiled.
I didn't know what to say. Years, is that how long it'd been since someone said my name? Sarina Alisha... I stayed quiet while Alpha looked thoughtful.
"Do you know your mothers name, Sarina?" I shook my head no. "It was Destiny. She loved you so much. The other rouges told you lies about her, like her trying to kill you before you were born. I'm sorry I didn't tell you all this but your mother wanted you to grow up with a seminormal life. I overthrew the old Alpha and became the leader. Being the Alpha's daughter you would've been privileged. I wish I would've protected you, I could've spared you of the pain..."
I hugged him and cried. It came like a wave, I felt emotions overflowing. I sobbed with all of the tears I had kept inside for years. I had a father and he loved me. I had a name that was no longer just a sound in and out of my ears.
Emotions, feels!! In the heart!! I know its soggy and sappy but I think we all needed a little more feeling in our heroine, Sarina! I took some of your names and used them so I hope your enjoying the story! And now onward to another update!
