Y/N'S POV:I stand in the woods, a blanket of new snow covering the ground around me. My breathing hitches as a rapid gust of wind swipes past me. I whip my head around, following the fast moving blur.
The snow that was once undisturbed, now littered with large, deep footprints.
I slow my breathing in order to be as quiet as possible, the faint pattering of feet growing louder. A smirk creeps it's way onto my face while I brace myself, running my fingers over my palms.
In a split second, the lightning fast smudge is in a heaving heap on the forest floor, holding his chest in attempt to breathe.
"You okay down there?" I tease, tilting my head, smiling down on the long haired blonde.
"Why would you do that?" He manages to spit out in between gulps of cold air. His accent strong even when he's struggling to breathe.
"You were annoying me, but I was also informed that you're dangerous. Now get up, we have places to be." I cross my arms over my front, waiting for the Sokovian to get up out of the snow.
"How did you even do that?" The question didn't surprise me, I was waiting for him to ask.
"Magic hands." I smile, shaking my hands theatrically. My hands drop back to my sides as I begin to walk towards the Quinjet that was parked amongst the trees. "But on a real note, are you okay?"
"Yeah yeah, I'm fine..." I knew he was lying due to the fact he was wincing with every step he took.
"If you say so, tough guy." I allow myself to let out a small laugh, walking ahead of him.
"...but you won't be, when she finds you." A wave of confusion washes over me, making me turn to face him, my mouth hanging slightly open ready to ask him who he's talking about.
But before I could even make a sound, I feel a pair of strong hands shove me by my shoulders, forcing me down into the white snow, almost completely winding me.
I open my eyes that had slammed shut in reaction to the impact, to notice my hostage had gotten away. A sigh leaves my mouth before my head rolls back in annoyance.
"You son of a bitch!" I yell towards the grey sky.
As I angled my body to sit up on the cold, wet ground, I notice a red whisp, glowing behind a tree. I cock my head to the side, squinting towards the newly found light.
The red was so rich and deep, contrasting heavily against the blinding white snow. It brought me a kind of comfort, I felt as if I needed to become closer to the mysterious flame.
I mindlessly stood up from the floor, brushing cold flakes of snow from my tight suit. Without hesitation, I stepped forward, following the red wave flowing softly next to the tree.
As I grew nearer to the scarlet flecks of light, I came to the realisation that the source of the magic was a girl.
The girl was around my age and had long dark hair that fell over her shoulders, settling over her chest, lonely strands framing her face. Her eyes were a deep emerald green for a moment before flashing the same crimson red as the energy beaming from her fingertips. I was mesmerised by her hand and how elegant it seemed to move, flowing almost like water. She wore many rings on the one hand I could see. At least six dark silver hoops hugged her fingers, reflecting the red energy lapping around them.
As I started to gaze back up at her eyes, I suddenly felt very lightheaded, stumbling slightly. I managed to find a tree to hold on to, sinking down to rest my back on the base of the tree, before I blacked out completely. The last thing I saw was a flash of silver falling from the hand of the girl.

"How the hell did you manage to lose him that quickly?" Frowning at the question, I slump down on the seat in the back of the Quinjet opposite Natasha.
"He's fast okay! It's not like I just stood there and let him walk away." I roll my eyes, resting my head back on the wall behind me. Something small uncomfortably pressing against the outside of my thigh, inside my pocket. I didn't think anything of it.
Natasha let out a dry laugh, leaning forward, stabilising herself with her elbows on the top of her thighs. "It's okay, we all slip up at least once."
I lift my head off the metal behind me, raising an eyebrow at her. "Even you?"
"Well, by 'we' I mean everyone else." She pushes herself up off the seat and makes her way to the front of the jet, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
I reach inside my tight suit pocket, pulling out a round, metal ring. I furrowed my brows trying to think of where it came from, I don't wear rings. Then, I remembered the girl in the woods and how she dropped something into the snow before I lost consciousness. However, I don't remember picking it up.

Once we land at the compound, I head straight to my room, annoyed and slightly embarrassed by my failed mission.
"Are you going to be at the party tonight y/n?" A voice behind me calls.
"No, leave me alone." I don't even bother to turn and see who asked me the question. "I'm not in the mood."
Once I got to my room, I immediately flop onto my bed. I bury my face in the soft covers and breathe in the light floral scent.
"Knock knock." I groan into the sheets and hear the heavy steps of a man walking towards me. "How are you?"
"Go away Steve, I don't wanna talk about it." Steve sits on the end of my bed, making the mattress dip with his weight.
"Please come to the party, it'll be boring without you." At that, I lift my head off the bed to face him.
"Is that right? You'll miss me too much?" I tease him, smirking mischievously.
"I wouldn't go that far, you're still annoying." He laughs, pushing my shoulder softly. "But do give it some thought." I smile gently at him as he leaves my room, shutting the door with a click.
