the first day of school was yesterday. many things happened that day.

and as far as events went, emu could only think of one.

"i'm asahina mafuyu. nice to meet you,"

the day she was acquainted with mafuyu. the chance of meeting mafuyu may have been fate. whenever emu met someone, she was always in high spirits about it but with mafuyu it was different. i guess, she felt some sort of saddness on mafuyu's behalf.

emu texted her but usually mafuyu was too busy with studying to text back so she had to wait until she saw her in school to talk to her.

mafuyu was a second-year so getting chances to talk to her were scarce. she wore a high-ponytail it was also safe to say she was beautiful in emu's eyes.

emu was a first-year which meant she only saw her during breaks.

"then, nenerobo shot laser beems into the city! then, tsukasa-kun came and saved the day! oh, and rui-kun turned out to be the bad guy too!"

it was during lunch break, and emu was going on about the show she had yesterday at the amusement park she worked at. it was the second day of the semester, but when it came to emu, mafuyu already knew so much about her.

things like her troupe at the amusement park, things like her hobbies, things like how she likes to style her clothing, things like the dreams she had last night or before, things like her grandpa owning the amusement park.

she talked a lot.

emu's stomach was making cute noises.

"you could have some of my bento if you'd like,"

"really?"

mafuyu handed her another set of chopsticks she kept in her school bag for some reason. emu helped herself to some rolled omelette.

"maybe it would be a good idea to keep some change on you in case you get hungry again,"

"oh, that's a good idea,"

"i'm guessing you were so excited to come to school and forgot to stop by the convenience store by the train station,"

mafuyu said this light heartedly, followed by a chuckle.

"wait, how did you know that? and here i was just planning to say that. could it be... we've become so close in just a day you can read my mind? hmm?"

emu cutely tilted her head, seemingly confused. mafuyu laughed in unison with emu's.

mafuyu turned away slightly embarrassed by the coincidence that just happened. she was too embarrassed to meet emu's eyes.

emu gave another laugh her way in response.

it was really cute, mafuyu thought.

"asahina-senpai, do you take the train?"

about half of the students in the school came there by bike, the other half taking the bus or train. a lot of people commuted from the surrounding area.

"i walk,"

"you walk? does that mean you live near by?"

emu looked at mafuyu like she was a protected species.

"i live with my parents about a thirty minute walk from here. something like that basically sums it up,"

"huh... i expected you to live on your own,"

emu's eyes widened in an exaggeration of surprise. mafuyu thought emu could be called a girl with abundance of emotions, or maybe just a girl that was prone to overreact.

"my parents would probably never let me leave home anytime soon,"

"why do you say that?"

a slip of the tongue. mafuyu shook her head and dismissed what she had just said about her parents.

"hey, would it be okay if i came over sometime?"

"my parents would probably say no,"

"then... how about my house,"

"i'll see,"

it was kind of a bit too big of a catch. mafuyu had never went to someones house before, her parents would never let her do something like that unless it was a study session in the library or something. so the rapid approach from emu, who was willing to learn more about her, left her heart unable to remain calm.

an unexpected blessing, a stroke of unexpected luck. that's what mafuyu thought.
