Harris' family has a huge penthouse in Malibu, so they spent their whole summer in there. Their penthouse is facing the ocean, so whenever they go out, there's sand and water waiting for them.
Michael and Nadia Harris has two daughters. Sophie, the eldest and Latrish, the younger one.
Sophie and Latrish loves to walk in the sand with their bare foot. Latrish don't know how to swim, so sometimes, Sophie teaches her.
That's where it all began, a simple sister bonding turned into a huge accident.
"Don't got far Latrish, stay in the shallow, I'll get something to eat." Sophie told Latrish before she went out to get some foods
"Hmm..."
Latrish saw a huge fish, so she followed it, not realizing she's far from the shallow. The water got deepen and Latrish can't barely swim. When Sophie came back, she saw her sister drowning, she immediately helped her. And when she's halfway saving her, Latrish told Sophie that her bracelet was not in her arm. So after they got out of the water, Sophie went back to find that bracelet. That bracelet is very special to them because it represents a never-ending sisterhood, and they both have that kind of bracelet.
Sophie found the bracelet but when she's on her way back, she stepped on a sea urchin. Sophie cannot move her other feet so she can't barely swim.
"Latrish! Tell dad to help me! I stepped on something, I can't swim, hurry! It's getting deeper here" The struggling Sophie shouted
Latrish immediately ran home to get some help. She can't find her parents, so she seeks help from their neighbors instead.
And when she went back to help her sister... Sophie already got out of the water but she's lying on the sand unconscious. A boy named Nick Ryan helped Sophie from drowning.
"I can't find her pulse, call 911!" Nick Ryan said as she tries to cpr Sophie
Latrish panicked as she called 911
"Try it again please" Latrish told Nick Ryan, with a trembling voice
"I'm trying, she's not breathing"
"She look so pale already" a concerned neighbor said
When they came in the hospital... The doctor declares dead on arrival.
Latrish was devastated. She's holding her sisters hand while the nurses gently covers Sophie with a white cloth. Latrish saw there were two bracelet on Sophie's wrist, and the other one was hers. She kept the other bracelet and she left the other one on her sister.
"You're in me" Latrish whispered, as she put the bracelet on her wrist
When she got out, she saw her parents with tears, ALOT OF TEARS.
Nick Ryan saw the devastated Latrish. He then came to comfort her.
"Hey, I'm pretty sure you're not okay. Tomorrow, a day after tomorrow you're not going to be okay either. But someday you'll be okay. I don't personally know you or your sister, but I genuinely think she's a good person. And I think she doesn't like you being sad, so you need to live happily for her." Nick Ryan concernly told Latrish
"I think I killed her" Latrish said with a bawling eyes
"The guilt will get you nowhere. Don't think about it. Don't think about what happened now, think about the memories you shared with her. Those memories are the best, and what happened today is the worst. So if you're to choose, will you choose the best or the worst? Cause everyone will choose the best. So the best thing you need to do is to cherish those memories and move forward."
"Thank you!"
Latrish was touched with Nick Ryan's kind words.
"I'm Latrish by the way. What's your name?" Latrish asked
"Nick Ryan." He answered
Latrish felt comfort as she leaned on Nick Ryan's shoulder. But that was the last time they saw each other. Seems like Nick Ryan was also in Malibu just to spend his summer.
