Almost a week had gone by and Clay was struggling. George had been gone all week at his family's house back in England and ever since last weekend, he had been excruciatingly bored.
For context, George is originally from England but his mom and dad moved to America just before he turned four. So he has an American accent most of the time but occasionally lets his British dialect slip when he's emotional or comfortable. His parents still live in England and fly him out every once in a while to keep in contact with the rest of the family.
George was supposed to come back today. That's what he'd said in their mass of texts while he was away. Clay tried to keep distant so as to not make it seem like he was practically suffocating without seeing George, but sometimes he got desperate.
Hey

I forgot there's a 5 hour difference between here and England.
its insane i know. im barely adjusted to the new time zone
Pointless conversations for a short time just to keep Clay sane. He hoped they helped George too; get through his family's endless barrage of questions and controversial topics. George often complained about the aunts and uncles and cousins he hardly knew.
But George was coming back today. Clay could finally see him instead of staring through a magnifying glass at some broken pottery. He loved his hobby but he could hardly focus; his mind was preoccupied. Usually he could put together 2-3 vases a week but he hadn't even finished the one he started before George left.
Clay walked into the lecture hall, sitting in his normal seat, looking around for George. A quick tap to his shoulder made him jump, turning around quickly. "Looking for someone?" Clay smiled, "Maybe." George smiled as he sat next to Clay. Usually he sat in the higher sections, with all the party kids. A few called him up but he just waved them off. "Not going to sit with your friends?"
George shrugged, "I am." He nudged Clay's shoulder with a toothless smile. Clay's lips curled at the corners, creating the most genuine smile he had in a while.

"Do you wanna go to a party this weekend?" George stood with all the other students as soon as the bell rang. Clay had never been to a party, let alone a college one with drugs and alcohol. "Uhm, I- I dunno. I don't think that's really my thing." He rubbed the back of his neck. "Well you've never been to one. Why not give it a try?"
A crowded sorority or frat house with intoxicated young adults, grind trains, couples pushed against walls and welcoming themselves into the bedrooms upstairs. Sounds like your average college movie experience. "M-maybe. Depends on how much homework I'll have and if my parents will even let me-" George gently held his arm, stopping Clay's sentence short. "Trust me, it'll be fun. If you don't want to then that's fine, you can do your Kintsukuroi." He smiled before grabbing his backpack and heading out of the hall. Clay sighed, lugging his own pack to his car, driving home in silence.
"Hey." Kristin was cooking something on the stove when Clay walked in. "Hey. It smells good in here." Kristin laughed, "I'm making some pasta for lunch, want some?" Clay hurried over to the stove, breathing in the hot steam from the alfredo sauce she was cooking. "God, yes please." He quickly grabbed a bowl, stepping from one foot to the other as he waited.
Pasta had been his hyperfixation food for about a month now, especially chicken alfredo. Kristin filled up his bowl, handing him a fork. He didn't even wait to be seated before taking a bite, huffing like a dragon when the heat hit his tongue. "Ah!" Kristin shook her head as she watched him, "Some things never change."
