     Tap.

     Tap.

     Tap.

Your footsteps echoed off the walls, each step bringing you closer to the cold metal doors that decided your next mission. Entering the chamber, you were faced with the tall chairs of1 the council.

Next to you was Seanna Harrison, your best friend and partner.

For as long as you could remember, it was you and her, always. Both of you were training to become professional assassins, and when you teamed up, your opponents were done for.

Recognizing this, the trainers began to focus more on you two and less on the other trainees. Soon, you two were doing solo and partner missions across the world. However, in exchange for your service, you demanded one thing. You and Seanna would only kill the people who deserved it. You were not willing to do sacrifices or any sort of scare tactic revolving around killing an innocent person. They agreed.

"So what are we here for now?" You said, fiddling with the knife in your hands. "Are we going on another mission?"

"Not exactly." The head of the council stepped down from his throne. "We've decided to give you your code names."

Both yours and Seanna's eyes widened, and you looked at each other. When code names are given, you're also given a rank.

With bated breath you awaited your fate.

"I now present you, Seanna Harrison, with the code name Luna. Your personality is soft and gentle, guiding those in the dark to their destination. Sometimes it is seen when the sun is around, however, your power is unrivaled at night. May the night be your guide and friend." The council leader presented Seanna with a bejeweled knife sheath. (Lol don't ask.)

He turned to you next, and you held your breath.

"I name you Sol, for the way your happiness spreads, like the sun's rays. Your compassion matches that of the sun's power. The light you offer shows that you can overcome even the hardest of obstacles. Although you are never seen when the moon is out, eclipses are when time is crucial. May the light of the day guide you." He handed you a bejeweled knife cover. (Dang these guys be rich to afford this 🤣)

Stepping back up to the podium, he opened a book. Running his fingers down a list, he paused.

"Ah yes, your ranks. As you two are young, but skilled, we'll be using your abilities as undercover agents. But," he paused, and you and Seanna looked at each other. It was never a good thing when he said 'but.' "In order not to be suspicious, you'll have to be 'well known' or 'popular' as you young people like to say."

"He means you will be doing missions around the world." Another council member spoke up, her voice echoing through the chamber. "This is our first time trying this method, as we normally work to avoid all attention. In order for it to work, we've established a company you two will 'run'."

You sweatdropped. Both you and Seanna were only 14, how in the world were you going to manage a company?!

"You will be the official owners, but will receive instructions from us on how to manage the company."

"So we're basically teenage millionaires or something." Seanna joked.

"Yes, if you look at it like that." The head of the council pondered that statement for a bit. "You are allowed to use part of the profits for your own personal spoils, but the majority of it will go back to the workers or to us."
