Chapter 1 :Lost

Today was the day, Lyla was finally 16. She had waited so long for this day. She planned a party, found a dress and was ecstatic for her sweet sixteen. "Good Morning Honey," a quiet voice whispered, it was her mom, Lori. Lori was a tall woman with light strawberry blonde hair, and was wearing a light pink blouse with a pair of her favorite jeans. "Happy Birthday!" "Thanks mom," Lyla said in a tired, but excited voice. Lori left the room and as she left she smiled a knowing smile. Lyla jumped out of her bed onto the cold, wooden floor. She looked around, and said to herself 'I'm sixteen'. She stepped out of her pj's and slipped on her birthday dress, and her tennis shoes' i'll wait to get all the way ready until later'. Then with a bounce and a  giggle of laughter she bounded down the stairs. She smelled pancakes, just a she flew around the corner she about knocked over her dad, Chris. He was a tall man, with dark brown hair, and  was wearing a blue flannel with jeans and work boots. "whoa there! There's my birthday girl". He lifted her into the air, swung her, and plopped her down again. "Dad!!!!!" said Lyla through a fit of laughter. "how does it feel to be 16?" Chris asked, "Pretty good!" Answered Lyla with a grin. "Welp, come on honey, I've go something got show you"Chris said glancing at Lori. She smiles and almost burst out laughing. "Ok!' Lyla said suspiciously. The family walked outside toward the barn. The property consisted of a tall white pole barn, and 45 acres of farm land. Current the family had 20 horses, 5 geldings, 3 Foals, 3 stallions, and 9 mares. Lyla heard winnie coming from the barn, ' all the horses are outside?' she thought quizzically
. And with a light bulb moment she realized, " you got me A HORSE?!?! " Chris and Lori burst out into proud smiles. "yes! His name is winston!" Lori exclaimed. Lyla couldn't believe it, her very own horse!!!!!
