"Hey Sunny, would you like to continue cleaning soon? We still need to clean your arms."

You still were sat in Sun's lap as he was having his internal conversation with Moon. And as much as you would love to keep watching Sunny make weird faces, he was still a mess that needed to be washed. Seriously, what kid dropped a glitter bomb on him?

"Oh right, of course! But, can you please close your eyes again?" The tall animatronic peered down at you in hesitation. Perhaps he was scared of hurting you again?

"Of course!" You quickly shut your eyes and lifted your arms up to his chest.

"Whenever you're ready and we can stop anytime you feel uncomfortable."

"Okay, thank you..." Sun's voice trailed off as he held your wrists again. This time being a little more gentle with the process.

Sun didn't know why you were so willing to make him feel comfortable after the incident with your hand. Maybe you were just that kind? Who knows, all he cared about was some friendly company. He knew you weren't going to become friends with an animatronic like him. Who would, the other janitors hated him and same with his fellow animatronics. Well, they more-so hated Moon, but they still didn't try to help or converse with Sun. It made him frustrated with his lunar counterpart. It wasn't fair.

Your hands were warm and skin was smooth under his hands. They were smaller compared to his, fragile. You were a fragile human, something so unlike him. You could cry, bleed, have relations with other humans. You could form bonds. Something Sun has never had, besides with Moon of course. Though, his relationship with Moon was more of a love/hate sibling one. Not one of a friend.

Slowly, your arms were moved up and down Sun's metallic chest. Cleaning all the little bits of glitter and stray paint along the way. Eventually, your hands were moved to the small crevices on Sun's torso. Your fingers dipped into the slits, intent on cleaning everything out. Sun's hands shivered ever so slightly, luckily not catching your attention. However, why did that feel so weird to the large sun-themed animatronic? After you were finished cleaning the crevices, you were moved to the arms. This felt a lot calmer to Sun. No weird feelings this time, until you got to his hand. For some reason, your hand touching his felt so... Nice? Sun didn't understand it, but it felt nice, comforting. Lastly, you were moved to his face. Sun leaned down so you could reach. Your hands rested on his face, eyes still closed as promised. His face was only inches away from yours. Sun's faceplate warmed at the contact, you didn't notice. He didn't know why, but you sitting there with full trust in his lap, made him feel good, almost entranced by your image.

Was he that touch-starved?

You're getting attached.

I'm not! It's just nice to have company...

They'll probably be gone by tomorrow.

Could you have a little faith?

You know how they are Sun!

Maybe this ones different, and you said we would play nice.

Moon's voice went silent, unable to make a proper comeback. So what if you were supposedly different, you would still be gone by the end of this week for the shift change and everything would go back to normal. The normal that Moon despised. The normal that required him and his brother to do everything that the humans were supposed to do, not them! You would probably forget about them after you left, so what was the point in even trying to be friends? Moon didn't understand why Sun craved affection from friends. It was useless and didn't last long, so why want it? Why need validation from others when you could just rely on yourself?

"Hey Sunny, you, um, let go of my wrists. Are we done? Can I open my eyes now?" You tilted your head in question.

Sun snapped out of his inner conversations with Moon and quickly leaned away from your face.

"Oh, of course!" Sun stammered, startled by your voice.

Your eyes opened with delight. You looked over Sun's body and then landed back on his face. Your face quirked into a small smile, happy that the animatronic was finally clean.

"Well, I'm glad you're finally clean!"

"Oh yes, um, thank you?" Sun didn't know how to respond, it wasn't like he got out much.

"You're welcome! Hey, so why were you so dirty?" You already had a guess, but it couldn't hurt to ask.

"Oh well, I don't like the other janitors, so I banned them from the Daycare. Not like they did their job anyway..." Sun grumbled. Welp, it seems you were right, sadly.

"God, I'm sorry Sunny. I know my coworkers aren't the best, but I didn't know they would do their job THIS badly." You gestured to the Daycare that was once in disarray.

"It's fine, I'm used to doing things by myself."

The sentence ended with an awkward silence. You glanced at your Fazwatch, you still have an hour and a half left on shift. Maybe you should make conversation? You craned your neck upwards to meet Sun's ocean blue eyes staring into your beautiful ones. Your movements slowed a little, why was he staring at you like that? He looked like he was going to eat you alive.

"Why do you call me Sunny sometimes?" His head tilted.

Oh, was that why he was staring at you so intensely?

"I thought it was a cute nickname for you." You smiled.

You did think it fitted his cute persona, though you could definitely come up with something better.

"Would you like me to call you something else Sunny?"

Sun's face perked up at the thought. You were giving him nicknames?! Ones that were friendly and not full of hate.

"Oh, I'll answer to anything." Sun waved his hands in a dismissive manner.

"Well then, how about you pick from the nicknames I came up with?"

"Pick?" How many nicknames did you have, you just met hours ago.

"Yeah, so far I've got starfire, star, daystar, cloud, sunbeam, sunbite, sun-bun/sunny-bunny, solarflare, and I'm still thinking of more if you don't like any of these." You stated, counting each nickname on your hands.

Sun held a gaze of amazement and admiration towards you. This caused you to tilt your head in confusion.

"Um Sun, are you okay there?" You reached your hand out to his faceplate.

Snapping out of his confusion, Sun grabbed your hand and held it tightly. His rays started spinning.

"I'm just so happy that you took the time to make up nicknames for me!" Sun held your hand close to his chest.

God, that was cute. Your face warmed at his excitement.

"Well, what are friends for?"

His eyes widened slightly, you considered him a friend? Were you a gift from god or something?

Calming himself down, Sun returned to the topic at hand, "Hmm, they're all great, but I like sunny-bunny the most."

"Alrighty then!"

You checked your Fazwatch quickly only to notice your shift was over 6 minutes ago. Wow, time went by real fast today. You looked back up at Sun who was staring at you in wonder and amazement. You felt kinda bad for having to leave, given how you two were now friends.

"Hey Sun, I've got to go." You stood up from Sun's lap, quickly patting down any specks of dirt that might've gotten on you.

Sun's face twisted into one of sadness, but quickly hid it with a pained smile.

"Oh okay, I'll see you tomorrow then?" His hand lifted to wave goodbye.

"Of course, Sunny-Bunny." You returned his wave, grabbed your things and then left.

Soft whirs and clicks filled the lonely daycare. Sun was sat in the same position you left him in, movements completely stopped. His faceplate was hot and his mind was blank. Even the moon was as silent as a mouse.

Did they mean to say it like that?
