"Don't let your emotions make your decisions."- Roy Bennett.

It was a warm spring Friday afternoon. Marianna Recalde was seated in her car, eyes looking out through the window as she observed a group of elementary school kids playing a ball game on a field in the distance during their lunch break.

Although, there was one in particular Marianna looked out for; The cute brunette girl with hair braided into two. Mirabel Riedes.

With a half smile, Marianna observed those small legs run around, trying to get a catch at the ball with her friends. It was cute and funny at the same time.

While observing, the thought of stepping out the car to meet with her daughter was killing her insides with uncertainty. After all these years, could she really face her little girl again?

Before Marianna could come to a decision, she already found herself stepping out the car, her shades on.
She just stood for a while, dressed in a dark T-Shirt and dark wash jeans while clad in a leather suit jacket and black boots. Her brown shoulder length hair was brushed to the side.

Taking in a deep breath, Marianna gathered her courage while placing her hands in both her pockets. While walking on to the school grounds, Marianna decided she'd just watch her daughter from up close instead of facing her. What was she going to say anyway?

Hi cutie! I'm Marianna Recalde, the woman who gave birth to you?

The girl might just perceive her as crazy and ignore her. Not like she won't do the same if it were her. Marianna sighed. Being the offender was hard but being the victim was even harder. Marianna thought as she watched Mirabel run towards her. Wait what?

Marianna's eyes widened in surprise as the little girl approached her.

"Excuse me miss." Mirabel stared up at her apologetically.

Head cocked to the side in confusion, Marianna stared down at the girl. "Yes?"

"I'm sorry. We kicked our ball too far and it happened to land at your feet..."

It was when the girl gestured towards her other friends behind that Marianna understood. Looking down, there was a ball caught under her foot. Marianna then realized she had caught it subconsciously.

"Oh." Laughing a little to herself, Marianna took the ball and held in her two hands before bending to Mirabel's level. "I hope you're enjoying the game?"

Mirabel nodded at her.

Taking off her shades, Marianna took a good look at the girl. From the braided browns to the small oval face and the cute outfit she was on, a little dust was splayed on it from running around. After dusting it away, Marianna's gaze returned back to the big hazel eyes which matched hers.

To think this was the girl who was just a small baby in her arms at one point in her life marveled Marianna greatly. Up until now, it had felt like a long time. But looking into those beautiful hazel eyes made Marianna feel like it was just yesterday when she held this girl in her arms as a new born. She had grown so much over the years.

So many questions swarmed in Marianna's head while staring at this small version of herself.

How've you been? Are you doing well? Are you eating well? Hope you're not falling sick or getting into trouble often? Is your father doing okay...? These were the questions that brimmed hot to spew out of her mouth but instead she asked. "What's your name?"
