*Draco POV*

I walked through the train, looking for a compartment with an empty seat. I finally found one with only one person in it, who was looking out of the window, head resting against it. They were wearing their robes, and I could see they were Gryffindor, but I couldn't identify them as they were wearing the cap over their head.

I mentally groaned, then slid the door open. 'Excuse me, but could I sit here? Everywhere else is full.' They shrugged without even looking up.

I sat down opposite them, but still couldn't identify them. They just kept staring outside. Until halfway the ride to Hogwarts, when the door slid open.

Granger stood there. She casted one glance in my direction, then focused on the other person. 'Harry, why don't you come sit with us?'

It was then that I realised I was sitting with Harry Potter. He turned his head to Granger and answered softly. 'Just go sit with the Weasley's, Longbottom, Luna or whoever you want to sit with, Granger.'

Damn, he called her Granger. 'But Harry- You do realise that you are currently sitting with Malfoy, right?' He repeated coldly.

'I'm aware, thank you.' He turned his head to me. 'Hi.'

I nearly gasped. He had a rare glint in his eyes, an almost mad glint. Then he turned back to Granger, who spoke up again.

'But Harry, he's your enemy! He even hexed you over the summer, and he-' 'Shut up, Granger.' She fell silent.

Harry spoke with a slightly raised voice, in same cold tone as before. 'How many times do I need to say this before you and your stupid Gryffindor friends understand? Draco Malfoy is not my enemy. And he certainly did not hex me.' He turned his head back to stare outside, and with that he resolutely ended the conversation.

Granger slid the door shut and stalked off. 'Potter?' He only gave a small hum of acknowledgment.

'Why did you act like the Gryffindors aren't your friends anymore, and called them all at their last name except for Lovegood?' He was silent for a moment, then turned to me. The almost mad glint had shrunken, it was still there, but smaller, but it got replaced by hurt and sadness, even some disappointment.

'I have my reasons,' he said turning back to the window. I blinked. 'And those reasons are?'

'Those reasons are none of your business.' 'Why did you defend me?' 'I didn't. I only spoke the truth.'

'Why am I not your enemy? We have been for years.' 'You wouldn't understand.' The tone of his voice was sad and gave away that he didn't want to talk about it, but I wouldn't give up that easily, even though I would drop it for now.

'What?' Potter was staring at me. Then he slowly took out his wand.

He pointed his wand at me and muttered something, then placed his wand back in his sleeve. I frowned and touched my face, but I couldn't feel anything strange about it and looked back at Potter. He was staring outside.

'Eight years, I put a charm on your dorm rooms. You can choose your room, but you can't see with who you're sharing, until you tap the door with your wand. Your name will appear on one of the two nameplates, and the name of your roommate on the other. If you tap the door, and only your name appears, then that means that you don't have a roommate yet. If you tap the door and your name doesn't appear on it, than it means the dorm is already full. Now, off you go.' I walked straight into the boys dormitories and to the last door. I didn't think anyone would already be in there, so it came quite as a shock.

I tapped the door with  my wand and saw my name appearing on the upper nameplate. Then, another name started to appear on the lower one. Harry Potter.

I mentally cursed. Of course I would be so lucky to share with Potter. I walked in, quickly closing the door behind me.

Potter didn't even look up. 'Hello, Malfoy.' I blinked, surprised.

'You didn't even look up when I entered. How did you know it was me?' He looked at me, the almost mad glint shining in his eyes once again. 'You would be most likely to want the room at the back.'

I quickly unpacked, took a look at the clock, showered and changed into my pyjamas. Potter also took a quick shower, which made his hair even more messier. He also climbed in bed and I fell asleep.

The next morning, Potter had already left. I did my morning routine, then went down for breakfast. My eyes immediately fell on the boy who was sitting alone at the end of the table, pushing his toast around on his plate with his fork, then sighed and stood up without eating anything.

He exited the Great Hall, and I quickly grabbed two apples and went after him. This would be a perfect opportunity to ask about yesterday in the train. He walked outside and stood on the edge of the Black Lake.

I stood behind him, then pushed one of the apples against his cheek. He jumped. 'Jesus fucking Christ, Malfoy.'

I smirked at his reaction, then held out the apple. He raised an eyebrow. I sighed.

'You didn't eat anything.' He shrugged and looked back over the lake. 'Not hungry.'

Now it was my turn to raise an eyebrow. 'You sure? When was the last time you ate?' 'What I am doing, Malfoy, is none of your business. Besides, classes are almost starting.'

He turned around and walked off towards the castle, leaving me at the side of the lake. I just stood there, slightly surprised, before following, realising something. The glint in his eyes had softened when he saw me.

I entered the Charms classroom, and my eyes fell on the boy who sat alone at the back. Next to him was the only place left. I sighed and sat down.

He gave no sign of greeting, he just shoved a little to the side to make room for me. It was like that the whole day, I sat beside Potter, he didn't say anything. After classes, I went to the dorm, to see Potter already there.

I wondered how he managed to get faster to the dorm than I could. He grabbed a muggle bag and stuffed a muggle radio in it, his books, parchment, and quills, then opened the window, mounted his broom and flew off. Of course it would be like Potter to practically disappear after classes.
