a frown came across my face as i read the the pages of the unfamiliar notebook sitting in my lap.

all the pages were like diary entries of this girl.. and billie.

who was she? and why didn't i know about her? what else was billie hiding from me? why did that name sound familiar?

i was going to read further until i heard footsteps approaching the bedroom door so i quickly threw the notebook under my pillow, turned off my reading light (the only light on in the room), and frantically rolled over pretending to be asleep.

i knew it had to be billie and not the twins nor simora because of her heavy footsteps.

a second later i heard to door crack and billie was coming in, shuffling could be heard and i knew she was kicking her shoes off at the door.

it was a horrible habit she had. i always had to put them away.

maybe she kept doing it because she knew i'd put them away for her.

billie immediately went into our bathroom and started a shower for herself, closing the door behind her.

now that the coast was clear...i huffed and rotated until i was lying on my back staring at the ceiling.

billie and i had been normal lately.. i think? we've always been distant within our relationship, mainly because she was so secretive.

sometimes i felt like i was her trophy wife and that's it. that i just fit into her aesthetic and that was the only reason she married me.

she controlled everything about us.

she named the kids, chose the house, chose the cars, hell she even chose the pets.

i was grateful to say the least but i wish those were things she'd let us do together. i was fond of the life billie built for us but i couldn't truly be happy without the constant thought that my wife was living in secrecy.
