Aria's P.o.v:
I bent down and searched among the numerous pebbles. Square, rectangular, diamond shaped, even hexagonal stones. I found them easily, but I needed a round one. I wanted the pebble to jump on the surface of the water after I threw it. I wanted to see the numerous circular vibrations of the lake water once the rigid stone hit the surface of the calm water. I gasped surprised when I found a round and relatively flat pebble. I picked it up and held it between my fingers, smiling happily at it as if I found the needle in the haystack. I threw the pebble in the lake, holding it accordingly, as my father taught me. With my thumb on top and middle finger on the bottom, I held it firmly. Then, I wrapped my index finger along the edge and after counting to three I threw it with a fast wrist movement.
It bounced once, twice and even a third time which made me squeal happily. I've always loved to do this as a kid. It has a special charm. I observed the last vibration ring which stirred the lake water and then it was quiet again. I exhaled and looked at my reflection in the greenish water. I looked as beautiful as ever. With healthy skin, plump, rosy lips, well-defined eyebrows, narrow chin and a straight nose. The features which were passed on from one generation to another. I looked more like my mother rather than my father, but I didn't mind it. I received my father's personality. Imposing and forever loyal to my own self.
Something flickered in the corner of my eye and I immediately shot my gaze over my shoulder. There was nothing behind me which reassured me. I was alone. I shook my head and turned back towards the lake. I gasped when I saw my reflection flanked by a dark figure which was standing behind me. I gulped and outlined its features in the mirror like water. It surely was a man. His height and the width of his shoulders told me that. His eyes were staring at me through the reflection and something about him made me want to run. Leave the place immediately before the monstrous stranger could get the chance to hurt me. Or so would any other woman around my age think.
I wasn't like any other woman. I wasn't an average. I was born with the heart of a lion and a honey badger's lack of fear. I knew very well that most probably my reckless behavior would bring me face to face with my death someday. But nothing in the world could change me. I stood up in a split second and turned around. There was no one behind me except for the grandiose apple tree. The tall tree had a thick trunk and could feed a whole village with its mouth watering red apples. The apples were big and round, almost reaching perfection. The apple tree has been thriving near this lake since forever, but no one has ever eaten from it before. Its fruit looked enticing indeed. My gaze lifted up towards the sky. It adopted a gray color and it looked like it was about to start raining any minute. I love rain, but it sometimes makes me become sad. Just like in this case. I wanted to stay at the lake a bit more, but with this unstable weather condition, I don't think I can anymore.
I sighed and took a step backwards, distancing myself from the apple tree. No more than two steps was I able to take as my body bumped into something... or someone. It felt like a human body. Tall, with a wide, muscular chest. I turned around while biting my lip and wondering how much time I didn't pay attention to my surroundings. I didn't hear anyone approaching the lake. Footsteps, rustles, noise. Nothing. As soon as my gaze met the person behind me, I understood why. The man was by no chance human. Pale skin, fierce eyes, red lips which clearly hid a pair of sharp fangs. I've been warned about creatures like this one. Dangerous and cunning vampires. But Jungkook has been my... companion for quite a while.
His white teeth and sharp fangs which formed a crooked smile sent chills down my spine. He pulled me closer towards him, his cold fingers hiding in the folds of my linen shirt.
