PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS NOTE WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS OF CHAPTER "0" OF "GHOST WHISPERS" - READ AT YOUR OWN RISK
If you haven't already, go check out Chapter 0 of Ghost Whispers
The book was originally meant to be my NaNoWriMo entry but of course, I was unable to continue writing it. (Lack of inspiration, not enough writing time, family and school - blame it on them, not me).
Ghost Whispers is an ORIGINAL book. Just putting that out there - haha.
Since this is my first time doing separated Author's notes (or notes in general - in the perspective of me, the author) I don't really know what to put here. Aha, bare with me.
Firstly, what did you think of the quote incorporation to the story/plot?
I love how quotes can open minds. They're "literuralised" pieces of ourselves; of humans. They're like the remains of humanity. Honestly, I try and portray what a quote says to me through my fictional worlds. That way there is a better chance of it sticking in someone's long term memory.
So, if you have any quotes you want me to know about, message me them! I'd be glad to read them.
Secondly, what did you think of the prologue? I think the description was on point. It was like the perfect dress: revealing but left imagination to practice its magic.
I'm sure there are a lot of unanswered questions if you've started reading.
If I'm honest with you, the term shadow walkers was impulsive. The plot line for Ghost Whispers wasn't meant to be as dramatic as I'm making it out to be. Aaron hadn't existed until the morning after I started writing. He was still nameless, then.
Maybe once I've finished the book, I'll do a special section of "deleted scenes": things that were supposed to happen but didn't.
So here are some questions , or things, you should be thinking about:
1. Shadow hunters
What are they? The only thing that is revealed about them, by Myka, is that they are a race (so you can only be born a hunters?!). What do they do?It sounds like they hunt shadow walkers; the question is, do they?Their sole purpose is to, apparently, "destroy" Myka. What's with the strong dislike between them and Myka?
So that leads me to the next question;
2. Myka
Is she human? Is she... not human? It's the first chapter; the beginning of the story, obviously I wouldn't spring into that detail so quickly (a bit ironic since you've been sprung into the world of Myka so suddenly). Nor am I going to spoil it. But I will leave some hints behind. Try picking them out!Has she got supernatural powers? It's obvious she isn't normal(?) Or maybe she is but she's... special. But from the first chapter it seems like Myka can do wonders. If she has, what are they?
Most of the book will be in her POV, but sometimes it will change to someone else for a brief moment, think WHY
3. The Damned
Just like the Shadow Hunters, The Damned has been touched upon. But only slightly. What's a damned? In this book, the damned is the devil's child. We know that they are "born" (but how do they come to be?) after a certain period of time (why?) and that the recent damned is Aaron (was he chosen?). But there's a lot that's left out and doesn't make sense.4. The pendant
What's so important about the pendant? We never really get a glance at why the pendant is important or what makes the pendant important but we know that it's powerful therefore it must be important. Right? How did the pendant get so much power? I believe that every power has a source or supply; something must be giving the power for it to be there. Why is it in the specific shape/colour?5. Shadow Walkers
Again, they've been touched upon but described more than the others - why?We know the life a shadow walker leads. But how did they become? Myka reveals that they're a "kind" - so a group of beings that have divisions/factions within themselves. Are they the only kind? What are they above or below in the chain consumer?
And lastly we should think about is what role do they play in Myka's life?
6. Myka's reflection creature
What was that thing? Unlike the rest of the creatures we find out about in the first chapter, this creature is nothing but physical description. It has no name.Who does it belong to? What role does it play in Myka's life? I can't answer this right now, so at this moment I have not answers or hints or suggestions but think about it... what does it symbolise?
7. Aaron
Is there a possible romance? Him and Myka - something and cursed; would it ever work out? What is Aaron's story? If you look underneath the layers of the first chapter you can see Myka's story. Aaron also tells his story but it isn't very easy to decipher. They both have a story and then there's another story which you will know of in the next chapter.
I think I should leave it at 7 points. Aha, too many questions - can't have your brain fried, now can I?
Random question: who's your inspiration? I have a tonne: a politician, some who are too personal and dear to share, a writer, and a few dead activists. Wow that was blunt.
Anyways, hope you liked the interaction. (I don't think I ever wrote something so deep - actually I have but not as deep as this - before).
Ciao,
