♛ ➶ ♛ ➶ ♛ ➶ ♛ ➶ ♛ ➶"How do you think the snake-eyed man knows so much about our family?" You asked. Aaron filled you in on what happened in the lodge while you were underground.
"So..Everyone knows about the family secret...Do they hate us?" You hesitantly asked. Aaron softly chuckled before responding "No they don't". You felt as much relief as you could given the current situation. "Do you know anything about forever potions? In the potion shop did anyone ever bring it up?" Aaron asked. "Considering that they are incredibly forbidden, no" You lightly teased.
Aaron rolled his eyes and cracked a small smile. "I have two potions right now, but you need the emeralds to make one of them work" He said. You momentarily stopped walking in shock, digging in your pockets the emerald Ein gifted you was still there. "Aaron, I have the emerald give me the potion!" You exclaimed as he pulled it out. "We can reverse the effects now!" Aaron affirmed.
"Or we can change the effects" You nodded.
"We're going to get out of here Aaron, I promise" You reassured, putting your hand gently on his wounded shoulder. You both walked for a while the forest seemed endless. As you continued to the path back to the main lodge, your mind couldn't help but wonder what state Ein was in.
He was hurt badly, but still reached out towards you in Aaron's grasp. What would become of him after all of this ended? What would happen to you after?
You had loved Ein for such a large part of your life, even if it isn't always explicit. Despite it all even now, if he truly repented, You could forgive him.
"Y/n if it comes down to it–" Aaron froze, his ears twitching, and familiar scents flooded your senses. Ein and Aphmau stood across from you both at the clearing in the trees. Ein's angered gaze softened when he saw you. "Let. Her. Go." Aaron growled now standing on his own feet. But Ein only kept his eyes on you, "I'm going to show you how much he really cares about you, Y/n" You came closer to him trying to lower the tension.
"And I'll prove it to you" Ein strongly claimed.
"Ein, you don't need to do any of this! It's only going to hurt everyone in the end, even us!" You exclaimed, silently praying that whatever bit of sanity was left in him would shine through.
"All any of them have ever done was get in my way and try and keep you away from me" Ein spat out with disgust, especially towards Aaron. "Once everyone is under my control–there will be nothing left to stop us!" He continued, pulling out a chipped emerald.
"I can free her from the forever potion, it's up to you Aaron–either your sister or Aphmau" There it was, the final test of how much you truly mattered to Aaron. One of your worst fears being served up on a silver plate. "You can't actually believe that I'm going to make that choice?!" Aaron shouted in anger. You felt hopelessness and despair rise within you.
"Ein..I love you so much but not like this" Your emotional voice cut in. A brief moment of hurt flashed across his face. "Then come back to me" He affirmed.
If you were not standing in front of Aaron you were sure he'd dart toward Aphmau immediately consequences be damned. It felt like your heart was being torn in two different directions. "I'll go with you–but you need to stop all of this and let Aphmau go" You pleaded. It was truly now or never..
"Wait–Y/n don't" Aaron stammered, eyes darting between You, Ein, and Aphmau. The love of his life or his little sister. All he ever tried to do was protect the people he loved, it was ingrained in him from the very start. But you had already moved further away from him. Aaron felt completely helpless..Until you made a V shape with your hand, behind your back.
Ein's hands immediately grasped your shoulder "See, I knew you'd back to me, Y/n" he possessively muttered. Your hand cupped his bruised face, taking in his features. Eyes like steel and storm clouds. Pale skin tinted red with blood. He was always so lovely in your eyes.
"Ein" You breathlessly said, gazing into his eyes.
Before the sound of glass shattering and sparks surrounded you both. Ein dropped to his knees gasping for air, while you kneeled beside him. You pulled him close into an embrace "We'll be together till the end just like you wanted, but it won't be under your terms anymore" You lovingly stated, as he relaxed into your arms. From the forever potion from Aaron and emerald from Ein.
The events at Bunny Hill still haunted you all, to an extent. Physically and mentally some scars never fully fade. But that was perfectly fine, because life goes on no matter the tragedy. Your quaint little home was warm and comfy, in a nice little area with parks and kind folks. Though they never looked too closely at your home, especially the man living in it."What are you reading today, Navy Stripe?" You asked, settling down on the couch next to Ein. "The history of werewolves and packs" He casually responded. While you cuddled up with him while dinner roasted in the oven.
Aaron sent you a postcard recently, he was healing well and almost ready to come back home. Aphmau had support from your fellow friends. As much as you wished you could be there for her, Ein was still a big trigger for them. Even if he would never hurt anyone again. You couldn't turn him in and by pure grace from the rest, they didn't either. As long as you kept careful watch over him. Your dearest love, your Navy Stripe, was stripped of his rage and greed for power. Now he could be the lover you always wanted him to be.
We finally made it everyone 🤞🏾
