Iris never felt that comfortable around people. Not even her family. She always sat in the bathroom for lunch, almost never talked in projects or presentation's, and never talked about her feels about anything. She felt distanced around people. Nobody knew anything about her except her name, age, and grades. The only person she really trusted was her english teacher. But even then, She felt distanced, quiet, and useless.
But one day, she met carrie.
As Iris closed her locker, she noticed that their was paint on her uniform. She sighs as she made her way to her next class. As she was walking, She tried to rub it off, but the stain only got worst. Luckily, her coat can cover it for a while. While she was walking, she noticed her bandage was not on her nose. It had fallen off. She didn't have time to go the the office to get another one. So now she had a huge, noticeable bruise on her small nose. She hopes nobody will question it, but half of herself says "everyone is going to look at you like your a fucking idiot." Iris sighs. Her morning was going awful already, but she had her favorite teacher in the morning. She walks in her English class.
"Well isn't Iris Imogen!" Her teacher smiled. "Iris waves a small hello. "What happened to your nose? Don't you need a bandage?" It was silent for a moment. "Shit." She thought to herself. "Y..Yes please." She muttered as she bits her nails. Her teacher went to her desk and looked in her drawers. She pulled out a single bandage. "This is all I have. Will this be okay for you?" Iris looked at the bandage for a bit. "Yes. This will do." Iris took the bandaid and slowly placed it on her nose. "Does it look okay?" Iris asked as she tries to place it. "It does!" It was pretty silent for a second until, "Oh! I almost forgot!" Her teacher got out her clipboard packed with hundreds of paper."I decided to move seats, since you weren't working that well with your.. past mates." Iris shakes. Her past classmates always bullied her. They threw papers balls at her, made fun of all of her bruises. She earned a nickname called "bandage girl", which annoyed her even more. She sighs."Who am I sitting next to now miss?" Her teacher looked around for a bit, and then answered "Right over there! Right next to Carrie Calway!" She pointed. Iris couldn't help but stare for a bit. Carrie was in an advanced art class. Most of her art was all around the school. She had short brown hair, amber eyes, and always wore a yellow cardigan with a black tie. "Oh yea. Carrie! Take off the jacket when were in the classroom!" Their teacher yelled. "Sorry Miss Martin." Carrie slowly took her jacket off, and put it behind her chair. The bell has rung and everyone gets to their seats. "You should get to your seat, Iris." Mrs Martin says as she makes her way back to her desk. "Alright! Let me take attendance!"
As the teacher was taking attendance, Iris couldn't help than look at Carrie for a bit. Carrie was writing in some sort of notebook. Iris assumed it was her dairy or some type of notes. Her handwriting was very pretty.
The teacher started her lesson. Iris already have learned the subject in the past year. She wanted to get to know Carrie. Iris seemed she was a really nice girl. Iris tried to build up confidence to even write hello. She took a deep breathe, and tapped Carrie's shoulder.
Carrie turned her head and smiled, and gave her the note.
"Hello"
Iris could'n help but smile too.
"Hey! Im carrie. And you?
"Iris. Its a pleasure to meet you uh.. carrie."
"You two!" Iris and Carrie quickly looked at the board. "Do I have to separate you already?" Miss Martin yells across the room. "No, Miss. She asked for a pencil." Carrie says as she gives her only pencil to Iris. "Ah, I see." Miss Martin counties teaching, and Carrie winked at Iris. Then, Carrie quickly looked at the board to listen. Iris felt butterflies in her stomach. She thought, "I just met this girl.. and shes already technically flirting? No no Iris. She JUST winked at me because we gotten away with getting in trouble. Right? Am I already in love? No.. Im not. Im just confused. Shes probably straight anyway-"
"Iris!" Iris quickly stop spacing out and looked beside her. It was Carrie. "You were spacing out. You didn't even hear the bell. You okay?" Said Carrie as she puts on her yellow cardigan .Iris blinked a couple of times until she said "Yep...All good." It was silence until Iris bursted out of the room. Carrie pushed in her chair and went out as well. She went to her locker, sighing as she unlocked it. She looked at Iris speed walking out of school. Carrie signs again as she closes her locker. As she goes down the stairs, she sees that it's pouring. Carrie quickly got her umbrella and put it over her head. She was about go to her moms car, but then she noticed that Iris was walking in the rain. Carrie felt horrible that she had to walk home in the rain. Carrie sighs as she rushed over to her.
"Iris!" Carrie said as she put the umbrella over her head.
"Here, take my umbrella for your walk home." Carrie smiled as she handed the umbrella over.
"R...Really..?" Iris muttered to her.
"Yes! T..Take it!"
Iris took the umbrella over her head. "Okay..bye!" Carrie ran to her car. Iris watched as she closed her car door, and watched her car until you couldn't see it. "What the fuck."iris thought. Nobody has been this night to her. Then, Iris walked home.

"Did you have a good day Carrie?" Her mom says as she pulled in her drive way. It was silence for a minute Carrie was looking out the window."Carrie?"
"Oh, yea." She said quietly. Carrie felt a weird connection already around Iris. She felt safe around her, like she can trust her, She sighs as she closes her car door. She instantly went to he room and opened her backpack for her diary. She fell asleep while writing down her thoughts on carrie.
