"Do you ever feel like you are in someone else's body?"
🌙
No sooner had the door closed behind him, Mani jumped a little in his skin. "Tyler!...you're awake. Tyler is sitting on his bed, still dressed in the clothes he was wearing the night before. "Have you been waiting for me?" Mani wonders as he sits nervously on the edge of his own bed, opposite his roommate.
"We need to talk. I can't sleep until we talk." Tyler utters low as he takes in Mani's unkempt appearance. "You really are wolfkind….figures." He concludes, with an air of amusement in his voice. "I was stupid not to see it."
"And you're bloodkind." Mani replies. "But you choose to hide."
"You sound like my dad." Tyler interrupts. "He says I'm choosing to hide as well. He thinks I'm ashamed of who I am, but he's wrong. I just see myself differently. That's all."
"And how's that." Mani asks.
"Do you ever feel like you are in someone else's body? Like, I don't know? Like your genetics don't match your mindset?" Tyler looks at Mani with wonder. Would he really understand how he felt? But he is surprised to see the omega get up from his own bed to sit next to his roommate.
"I know exactly how you feel." Mani smiles. "I mean, I'm happy being wolfkind, but it comes with all these conditions, like my decisions are taken from me. My mate for one. I don't even know if I really like him or if it's the wolf in me saying so."
Tyler grins at Mani. "It sounded to me like you are very much into each other from what I could hear through the door. You were talking like any human couple would."
"You think?" He looks at Tyler with surprise. Perhaps there was something more than the wolf about the alpha. Mani's gaze then focuses straight ahead. He emits a heavy sigh. "I know he has a dislike for vampires."
"It's understandable. We don't have the best rep to be fair.'' Tyler chuckles. 'My dad hates wolfkind. In fact my dad hates anything that isn't bloodkind. Humans, aqualine, angels, demons, morphkind, butterflies, synthetics, ghosts, you name it." Tyler matches the heavy sigh Mani had produced a moment ago. "I guess that's why he had his issues with these pills." Tyler deduces. He reaches across to his bedside table, pulling open the drawer. He takes out a small white bottle with a safety cap on it. The bottle is free from any labelling apart from two letters pressed into the plastic, reading S.I. He hands over the seemingly innocent looking container to Mani, who takes it in his grasp, taking in the letters.
"S.I? What does that mean?" Mani questions as he runs a thumb over the slightly embossed letters.
"Sensory inhibitors." Tyler replies. "They stop me feeling the urge to feed. They ultimately tame my senses and allow be to be invisible I guess. I'd say they let me be free, but my dad doesn't see it that way."
Mani twists open the lid. He lets a few of the small pills fall into the palm of his hand. "So these make you like a human?" Mani wonders as his eyes do not stray from the small pills. "So if I took one, would it make me become like a human too?"
"I don't know?" Tyler says, now also staring at the pills, looking seemingly harmless in the palm of Mani's hand. "Professor Kelly gave them to me. He's a being you know. So is his partner."
"A being?" Mani now looks at Tyler. "What's a being?"
"Half human, half vampire." Tyler says, raising an eyebrow."
"A halfblood? That's rare! I didn't know the bloodkind mixed species." Mani says in wonder. "I guess not all vampires think like your dad."
"I guess not." Tyler gives off a weak smile. He reaches out his hands to gesture for Mani to return his pills which he does. He puts the small bottle back away in his drawer, before turning back to Mani. I will talk to my dad, but you need to do the same with your alpha."
"He's not my alpha." Mani begins.
"He is totally your alpha and I think you are the only one who could possibly talk sense into him." Tyler adds.
"Ok… deal." Mani holds out a hand for Tyler to shake.
"Deal." Tyler responds as he takes the hand. "We can do this."
"We have to do this and succeed." Mani concludes. They let go of each other's grasp as Mani gets up to standing. "I think it may be better for now for me to move out. At least until this settles. I can stay with Teddy."
"You don't need me as an excuse for that." Tyler smirks as he lays back on his bed, stifling a yawn.
Mani grins. Maybe he didn't need any excuse at all. He wanted nothing more than to be with his alpha, but those pills… Mani now couldn't get them from his mind. What if they would work for him? He would then truly know once and for all what Teddy's feelings were towards him and more importantly, Mani would ultimately know if the feelings he has for his alpha, are real
