A group of some 100 Snow scouts settled in for the winter on A-679. They had arrived only a month ago and yet they have encountered nothing but the familiar whistling of the blizzard about to hit their camp...
They were all positioned at the outer boundaries of the great forests that dominate this land, providing them with cover and a place where the snow scoots set up their camp for the night. Tents were erected, heaters placed and the soldiers took to cooking their lunch in the form of Hot sausage stew the locals have given them, a better meal when compared to the stale, bland food bar that they were normally issued.

The winter of this under developed colony was brutal, but, the snow scouts have survived far worse blizzards.

A snow scout who was watching from the foxholes then noticed something.

Movement in the forest just a kilometer or two away from their positions. The Soldier aimed his Mag rifle and muttered.
"Finally, something to shoot."

Expecting to fire upon a wild animal, thd dangerous beasts that can kill a man, the man got ready to shoot.

He took aim as forms start appearing out of the woods and... Those aren't frost monsters...

Much to his shock and surprise, the figures appearing from the woods weren't wild animals at all, but rather were hundreads of Garserian Snow scoots running towards them in the frenzy, as if they were in a panic.

The fleeing snow scouts shouted incoherently:
"Give way! Out of the way!"

"Move, we have wounded!"

"Fall back people, this here is suicide!"

The man grabs one of the retreating soldiers by the shoulder and asks
"What's going on??"

The panicked soldier turns and points at the forest.
"Our Company has been wiped out! Those mustered bleeders are the ones who did it!"

And just as he finished saying that, their position suddenly came under fire... As the Aetherians that wiped 2 whole companies out, now assault them.

...

(Merat POV.)

I smile as I looked at the camera, sitting down in my computers desk after narrating the introduction for them with the accompanying animations.

I said.
"HI! My name is Annabelle Merat, the Famais part time historian."

(The T in her name is a silent.)

I took a deep breath and said.
"The battle for the world of A-679 was one of the must crucial in the history of this entire sector. Though the planet is widely considered a backwater planet, it stands at a position where it connects to many well known points in which could be used ti get deeper into the sector unopposed..."

I then continued after taking another deep breath.
"This battle is part of the 35 year long conflict for the subsector that is still happening to this very day.
The glorious Garserian Union fighting off againts the Vile, cruel and oppressive religious zealots, that is the Aetherian faith and their cohorts of ATS soldiers."
I smiled.
"By this stage of the war, the Aetherians had few options to continue the war, as assaulting any of the major worlds would simply slow down their war effort. While an attack in the southern part of the sector will only prolong the fight and create an ultimately untenable front."

The camera zooms out and I said.
"With this in mind, the battle for the ice world of A-679 could have turned thr tide of war in favor of the Aetherians, as the lightly defended planet and the fact it can be used to bypass many defended worlds means that the Aetherians could cut the sector clean in half... My home, the Hive world of Famais, would have been the 1st victim in the event of an Aetherian Victory. However thanks to the bravery of the GRA the Aetherians were held back.
In this episode of the Galactic wars history Channel, we will look at how the union survived such an overwhelming assault, from the cruel and oppressive Aetherian Zealot!"
