Chapter 4
"Oh my god," I gasp slamming my locker shut, "Alex, what are you doing?" I slightly try to keep my voice down. He's leaning against the locker next to mine, chuckling to himself at my little freak out. What? He scared me! How would you like it if when you shut your locker, you came face to face with Alex Spencer? Scary.
"Nice to see you too, Em—"
"Don't call me that."
"Right, okay. So I needed to tell you something important—" I scoff and roll my eyes.
"Not interested." I uncap the chap stick in my hand and apply some and smack my lips together. He's still standing there, so I widen my eyes, and try to shoo him away.
"Please leave now." I make sure to look super annoyed, because I am. I am very annoyed at his presence. I think I am...
"No, seriously I have to tell you something—"
"Like I said, not interested." I step back from him a little and put a little space between us. He has the tendency to get up really close to me, and it's weird.
He sighs, and laughs a little, running a hand through his "pretty hair". "Can you stop being stubborn for just one second and listen—"
"Alex," I place a finger against his lips to shush him. He just does not know when enough is enough. He can't get it through his thick skull. "If anyone is being stubborn it's you. As always. Now, please just go run off and find your little football buddies, and kindly leave me alone—"
"Oh my god, seriously? Run off with my little 'football friends'? Come on, you are friends with half of them, don't act like they are an annoyance to you—"
"You are."
He sighs and shakes his head at me. His piercing eyes pull focus back to me. "Other than me. Look, I just wanted to tell you something important that I thought you might want to know, but as always you're being a stubborn jerk." He shoots at me.
My jaw drops. He did not just...
"Okay first of all, I'm not being a stubborn jerk. You are. You refuse to just leave when I have kindly asked you multiple times to—"
"Oh I left you alright." Were standing face to face now. Like a battle. Well guess what? It's a battle I am about to win.
"Don't bring that up, I can't believe you just brought that up."
"Brought what up? The fact that you were once in love with me? The fact that you didn't used to wish I was freaking dead? The fact that I dumped your sorry a—"
"SHUT UP!" I feel my face flaming red. My eyes feel hot and watery. He looks really angry, which I don't know why. I should be the one thats angry. How dare he bring up our past.
"The fact that I dumped you because I caught you cheating on me with my best friend? Is that what you can't believe I brought up?" He looks so angry now. His face is red too and his jaw is clenched, fists too. I open my mouth to say something, but nothing comes out.
I feel my chest get heavy, and my throat start to close up. I feel sick. He's staring at me intently, waiting for me to fight back.
"Your best friend? Who—oh you're talking about Julian? Keep in mind he betrayed you too. He's the one that kissed me. And also keep in mind that he moved. He left you without saying goodbye. Does that sound like a best friend to you? Doesn't sound like one to me."
"Don't you dare—"
"Try me." I snap. I bite the inside of my cheek trying not to scream at him.
"You are a real bitch, Emily. Now I remember another reason I broke up with you." He gets really close to me again, closing the space between us. He leans down and whispers in my ear.
"By the way, what I wanted to tell you? Julian is back, and he's coming to the game tonight. See you there." With that, he walks off.
