Five: Jealousy.

Luke.
It was another school day, and yet another lunch break in Bradford High's cafeteria, filled with rowdy teenagers obsessing over high school drama more than actually eating their lunch.
They didn't have Drama class today, and so Luke hadn't seen Louis all day.
Not that he wanted to, or was anxious to.
They only had first period English class together, which Luke had missed because he had slept in today.
Luke sat at lunch with his two other friends, Ashton Irwin and Michael Clifford. They were both in his grade back in Australia, but they had never talked much before. But now that the lads were in a foreign country for an exchange program, they'd formed an unlikely friendship over the past month, surprisingly having much common interests.
Collecting his lunch tray from the counter, Luke searched for his friends, but his eyes landed on Louis and his friend's table. The blue eyed boy's lips curved up in a smile as he took in the sight of Louis laughing heartily at something his friend said, his eyes crinkled up adorably as his small shoulders shook.
It felt like Luke had been standing there for hours when Louis then passed an arm around a buff boy sitting next to him, who looked down at Louis with a fond smile, and Luke felt his stomach churn uneasily.
Who was he? Luke was sure he hadn't noticed the boy with Louis before. Was he new?
Luke shook his head. It was none of his concern. Him and Louis were mere acquaintances. He sometimes hated how quickly he had developed a little crush on Louis Tomlinson, in the past month since he had first met the boy, and had called him adorably tiny and short, which he was, compared to him.
Well, it was impossible not to form an instant crush on the boy, but still. He wasn't sure if Louis even swung that way!
Luke sat down on his table deep in thought, a small frown on his face, instantly in a sour mood which got picked up by his friends. Luke knew what had brought this sudden feeling on, but he refused to acknowledge it. The blue eyed boy twiddled with his food, not making conversation, and both boys shared an amused look.
"You okay, Luke?" Ashton asked in concern, and the boy looked up with a smile.
"Yeah, I'm alright. Just a bit stressed about the upcoming play we have to rehearse for."
"And somehow it all leads back to Louis Tomlinson," Michael teased, as Luke elbowed him.
Minutes later, Luke's attention started to drift, and Michael ripped Luke's beanie off his head non-chalantly, which made the taller boy whine and snatch it back, while simultaneously fixing his hair, patting down the impromptu mohawk.
"What's gotten you so moody today? Did Lewis ignore you again?" Michael jibed as Luke shot him an unamused look while fixing his fringe, the other boy knowing full well about his friend's crush on the older boy, and also, Luke has been even moodier at lunch these past few days ever since Louis got a boy toy.
"Why would I care if he ignored me?" Luke asked half-heartedly, looking back down at his phone which he had pulled out of his pocket.
"What, guys?" Luke sighed as he looked up, eyeing his friends who were sharing a knowing look as they then focused their attention back to the blonde.
"What is up with you and that bitchy Drama president?" Michael repeated, narrowing his eyes as a blush crept up Luke's cheeks.
Ashton noticed that and smiled, pushing his glasses up his nose as he leaned forward. "You like him, don't you?"
Luke rubbed his eyes, scoffing. "It's whatever, guys. He's kinda cute and fun to rile up, s'all," he shrugged, as Ashton hummed.
"And you haven't asked him out yet, because...?"
Luke looked at his friend like he was crazy. "Are you serious Ash? He doesn't even like me, let alone is fond of me!"
"Yep. He does like you," Michael rolled his eyes. "Just please, quit moping around and being jealous everytime the guy hugs someone, and make a move."
Luke snorted. "Jealous? Please. Not in my dictionary," he said haughtily, and the green eyed boy just scoffed in a manner which said I'm dealing with a bunch of hormonal children.
"And no, I can't just ask him out! I don't even know if he's gay! And 'sides, he won't ever say yes," Luke pouted. "But oh well!" He changed the subject, placing his phone down on the table next to his untouched food.
"What about you Ashton?" Luke wiggled his eyebrows at his curly haired friend who frowned as he was under the spotlight now. "You've been talking an awful lot with that bird, Louis' best friend?"
"Gemma? Yeah, she's awesome. I asked her out in class today and she said yes quite excitedly," Ashton said shyly, Michael making a non-verbal sound of amusement mixed with proudness as Luke reached forward and high fived him.
A few minutes later, Luke involuntarily twisted around and glanced at Louis' table out of habit, just like Ashton was (smiling shyly at Gemma who winked at him). Luke quickly turned back around when Louis looked up and their eyes met for a split second, the blonde's cheeks flaming as he cursed himself for behaving like a stupid school girl with a crush.
While Luke was happy for his friend for finally asking his crush out, he just wished he had enough guts to do more than just tease Louis about his adorable-ness and actually ask him out.
But of course, before that, he needs to have Louis at least tolerate him.
