I woke up, stretching and wiping my weary eyes. Looking around me and at first I forgot how I got here. Weird I know. But when you wake up in a room you have never been in before can always still shake me for a few seconds. Then it came back to me. The sneaking in, Dark nearly sending me to a cell somewhere, eventually smoothing things over and him giving me this room. My new titles. I felt the space around my neck and searching for the pendant he had given me last night. I found the smooth chain and smiled to myself before getting up and getting a pair of jeans and T shirt out of my backpack to change. I got dressed and wasn't sure what to do with the rest of my day. I couldn't leave likely without an escort now, so going over to Will's place was probably a no go right at the moment. I seen a book in the backpack I had brought so I took that out and made myself comfortable on my new bed, settling in to read to pass the time. The book was Splintered, a newfound favorite of mine. It was about a descendant of Alice ( of Wonderland ) Who has a curse on her from her great grandmother's trip down the rabbit hole and she must return to fix Alice's mistakes to lift the curse. There is a mysterious winged being who acts as her guide and flirtations ensue. ( AN: yes it's a real book and I totally recommend!) I was just getting to the part where Alison visits her mother in the local asylum when there was knocks on my door.
"Come in!" I called out.
The door opened and a servant walked in with a platter. They brought it to me silently and sat it on the edge of the bed, turning to leave. "Thanks so much." I said and pulled the platter towards me cautiously cause it could be hot. The servant seemed to nod confused and closed the door behind me. But I wasn't sure as the servants here are mostly foggy, black smoked creatures. So reading things on their faces is kinda hard. When they left I pulled the lid off the platter, French toast and a little dish with syrup and butter on the side. I picked up my silverware and started eating. Damn it was good! Next time I seen Chef I was going to tell him just how good of a chef he was. He more than deserved the praise.
My phone buzzed next to me.
Dark: How did you sleep?
Me: Pretty good. Thanks for the room again. And the breakfast. Lol.
Dark: Your very welcome. Any plans for today?
Me: Just reading rn. I was thinking of going to see Will and apologize for not visiting him.
Dark: I can take you there later if you like.
Me: I would like that, thanks. I really want to smooth everything over with ppl now I have fixed things with you. What are you doing rn?Dark: I am currently working with an ambassador of another kingdom for an upcoming visit. We meet every year to discuss matters. Quite boring actually.
Me: Sounds fun. Wait, aren't you banned from Will's place for scaring away customers?
Dark: He has lifted the ban since your last visit. He thinks its fine now since I visit quite a bit these days for a drink.
Me: You get drinks there often now? Thought you didn't like the noise?
Dark: I don't really, but sometimes its nice to surround yourself with people even if your not with them. The energy there is good.
Me: I can get that. Being around people so your not so alone. I understand.
Dark: Yes, exactly. So I am going to go ahead and finish this paperwork so we can head over there.
Me: Okie dokie, see you then!
Dark: Goodbye for now.
I put down the phone and read until afternoon. It was getting good when I heard knocking again at the door. "Come in!" I said once again, getting up to put the book away. Dark walked in and smiled. I seen he was wearing a completely red suit in various shades of red. The only other color he was wearing was black. Tie, shoes were midnight black. It looked nice honestly. "You look good, red is really your color." I complimented him as I put my book in my backpack. "So you do Sara. You always look nice." I chuckled. "In jeans and a Tshirt? Eh, I'm fine I guess. But thank you anyways." I put my shoes on and ran a brush through my hair. "Yes, you always look well put together. Don't assume you don't look nice just because your dressed casual." He responded. "So how was your meeting and paperwork?" I asked walking up to him. "Fine I suppose, quite a bore as I told you. Are you ready to leave?" I nodded and we left my room.
