Death's Angel {Naruto FanFic}

Chapter Nine

My mask dares me to knock it to the floor. Those empty slits for eyes, outlined in blood red, stare at me with an accusitory gaze. I snarl back at it, and those same slits flash with pity worthy of loathing. I throw it against the door and wait for the crashing noise of a mask breaking, but it lands with a deep thud and instead knocks the door off its hinges. My jaw drops with awe, something usual for me, as I stand over it. The noise of my door crashing to the floor has drawn attention, and it doesn't take long for a few members to walk by and attempt to see what has happened without looking like they're curious. 

I keep standing at the foot of my door, gaping at the damage my mask has done. Pein eventually wanders my way, Konan somewhere nearby. My face becomes a mask of rage. "What is the meaning of this?" I shout, pointing an accusitory finger at him. My body trembles tensely. Pein's face flashes with surprise as he looks from me, to my mask, to the door, and back to me. 

"I could ask you the same thing." He responds, looking back at me as calmly as he can as my rage crosses the distance between us. 

"Indestructable masks are not a part of any agreement! You have voided your agreement with me!" I shout, picking up the mask and tossing it back at him. 

"You are my tool, Tenshi Chishi!" Pein shouts back at me, having finally lost his temper. "You belong to me!" I snarl at him again. 

"I am a human being! I belong to myself!" I scream, my demon ready to slip into my skin. I'm ready to kill him, and I know that it would be for the best for me to do so. "I am nobody's tool!" 

Pein's face contorts with a mixture of smugness and rage."Is that so?" He says in a voice so calm it kills. My teeth sharpen and I bare them to him, a warning not to cross me. "Don't forget what I can do if you leave, Chishi. I can kill your brother. I can destroy your Village. I can do anything I like." 

My demon threatens to slip into my skin yet again before I grit my teeth and manage a bloodthirsty smile instead of a bloodthirsty grin. I grimace soon after. "You cannot! You will die, just like the rest of us! Nobody is eternal!" I shout, wishing to pull my wings out and beat Pein into a bloody pulp. 

"Chishi." Itachi's voice is calm and collected behind me, so I pay him no mind. 

I point a finger at Pein yet again. "Don't think you own me! Don't think you can make me do what you say! Your contract with me is void! I am no longer your ally!" I shout, pulling my chakra back into its reserves. 

"You accepted the mask, Chishi." Pein snarls. I laugh with fury. 

"You gave me a mask that cannot be destroyed! That makes our contract void! All masks must be able to be destroyed at any time!" I snarl back. My demon sends chakra through me. My teeth cut the inside of my mouth open, sending blood dripping from my mouth as I speak. "Do not try to decieve me, Pein! Your death will follow swiftly!" 

"Chishi!" Itachi's voice is sharp now, but he cannot control me, and I won't let him. My wings appear, spread menacingly as my eyes darken to jet black. 

"You accepted it, Chishi!" Pein shouts. I roar back with fury. 

"Deception is not tolerated! We have nothing binding between us!" I scream. I want to charge Pein, but I'm holding back, if only barely, by trying not to cut my lips open any more. I am not a pretty sight. I am a terrifying one. A girl with too pale skin and wings, hair, and eyes the color of a starless night, with crimson dripping down her face and neck from razor-sharp teeth. Hatred comes off of me in waves. "You can't control me! You never could!" 

My demon takes over, cracking my knuckles. Our wills intermingle, her mind just as alert as mine as I allow her to combine our strength. Our voices ring out together. "Get in my way, and I'll kill you with my bare hands." My demon propels me forward, past Pein and toward the exit, but to do that I must go through that gathering room I've come to detest. I fly toward it, my feet racing an invisible, untouchable wind.
