A cat is in the alleyway a few blocks away from our apartment.
This black, little old feline is roaming through the dark alley, or as I call it, dumpster exhibit. It is bad luck to see a black cat and let it cross your path, but I don't believe in such superstitions. I love animals no matter what they look like. Yes, I hate humans but I love animals, or at least I think I do.
It mews and rests in a tattered, mildew-covered, cardboard box. It's eyes are a piercing harlequin green, and it's teeth are as bright and white as the moon. It's tail is straight and bushy, like a pulled cotton ball dipped in soot. It glares at me, almost looking into my somewhat empty soul.
Suddenly the cat gets up, stumbling to the nearest dumpster like it had too much catnip. It begins to drink something unnatural looking, like a gooey milk. I gag, looking at the liquid it is consuming. The sound when it's tongue hits the fluid makes me even queasier. I can't stand looking or listening to it any longer.
I stumble back, and my foot splashes in the puddle behind me. The cat turns it's head and It's face distorts. It bends, twists, droops, and stretches, and soon enough a screech is let out from it's now wide-open mouth full of razor sharp teeth. The once cat, now disgusting creature, moves closer to me. I step back and begin to run.
The adrenaline begins to coarse within me. As I run, my heart begins to pound in my chest. I can see my torso rising and falling as I pant, trying to catch some air as I flee. I can hear the rumbling footsteps of the monster behind me. It yowls and screams and I try not to look back. My eyes begin to water as the air passing me hits them. I start to cry.
Silently, I look back at my life and wish I did more. I think to myself, "Could this really be the end? What did I do to deserve this?", but there isn't enough time to sulk. I have to run, I have to get out of here.
