"And then? What happened then?"
"My dad shot the animal."
"NO!" I shrieked unknowingly, startling the living hell out of Debora, Nat and Railey. Realising I had been a little too loud, I glanced around to see if anyone had noticed, but thankfully, no one had.
While the three of them stared at me incredulously, I cleared my throat, straightening up. "Sorry 'bout that, but how could your dad do that Deb!? It was just a deer! He did not have to kill It!"
The pain in my voice was real, and although Nat and Railey did agree with me, they seemed more in shock at how much the story was affecting me. Even Debora was surprised, but she only shrugged, giving her response. "My dad is a hunter, Ari. He's supposed to kill."
As if that had explained everything, I sighed, slumping down on my chair. "Right. And that is why I hate hunters. No offence Deb but I officially hate your father."
"None taken." Debora replied solemnly with her hand on her chest and a silly smile on her face. She was really fun to talk to.
Debora had met Nat and Railey with my introductions, and no sooner had they exchanged pleasantries, the four of us hit it off. So since the day they had introduced each other, the four of us sat together almost every day. Yup, totally every day.
While Pearl and Claire would occupy the first seat, Nat and Railey took the second which was formerly mine and Debora's, and now the two of us would be right behind them, on the seat which was formerly used by Tessa and Anna. And right behind us were the weird sisters, Nell and Sandy, and behind them two other students, Laila and Amalia.
Wondering where Tessa and Anna went? Well, having lost the double seats, the duo now sat at the solo side, with Samantha on the lead, Tessa, Anna, Sofie and then Meave.
And what happened to our building friendship? Hmm, it kind of...didn't sail?
Yeah, because no sooner had the four of us become friends, I didn't really feel like making anymore, and the way Tessa no longer asked for my company, I had a feeling she didn't want to make any more friends either. For just like me, she had found new friends too other than Anna. Claire and Sofie.
Claire and Sofie had been friends since kindergarten, so they knew each other. Now, Tessa was a part of their circle of friends too, and believe me when I saw, Tessa looks like she really enjoys the attention.
Especially when Claire calls her Tess instead of Tessa. Cringe.
So here we were, completing one week since my arrival to school, with my new set of friends.
The bell rang, and we all stood up to exit the class, ready for the morning assembly.
I won't bore you with the details of the morning assembly, as it holds hardly any value to the contribution of this story. So we shall skip it and move on to our first class, that is English, Miss Manisha's class.
