Elena Madrigal is a main character in Disney wattpad's novel Encanto: The Secret of The Madrigal showing as the secondary protagonist and the antagonist later on in the story. She is the elder daughter of Julieta Madrigal and Agustin Madrigal. The third grandchild of the Madrigals behind Isabela and Dolores. Elena is the secret of the Madrigal for they have kept her unknown towards Mirabel because of Elena's gift which is connected to the Encanto

BACKGROUND
Born into the Madrigal, Elena is the elder daughter of Julieta and Agustin Madrigal, and the younger sister of Isabela Madrigal and the older sister of Luisa Madrigal and Mirabel Madrigal. In addition being the niece of Pepa, Felix, and Bruno Madrigal. Elena is also the cousin of Dolores, Camilo, and Antonio. Being the third oldest of her cousins and sisters, she is the thirdborn grandchild of the Madrigals and known as the cold emotioned one from the family. In early years of her life, Elena lived in a nursery with her older sister and cousin who is one year older than her, and eventually her younger sister Luisa who is one year younger than her. On the day she tried to come back home, Bruno seemed to have seen the future of Elena being controlled by her gift and destroy everything. But it wasn't the first time it happened, the same thing happened on the day of her gift ceremony, but she was clueless. and when she knew for the first time, she immediately decided to stay away for the family's safety.

Due to having childhood trauma, she's afraid of everything she does, even simple things when she was a kid. Elena grew up having a bad childhood because the people in town were avoiding her and making sure she doesn't get angry. They're afraid because her gift might happen again. Her gift is her biggest and only insecurity of herself, she hates her gift more than anything or anyone, she's afraid of herself, she tried to use her gift calmly but was still afraid of it. At the climax of the story, she was controlled by her gift again, meaning that the vision has already happened, and eventually, she was now able to control over it thanks to Mirabel and by thinking about her family.

Elena is Mirabel's older sister who is very intelligent, brilliant, and vigilant too. She is very intelligent that she already knows the weaknesses of the family at such a young age. But this leads to knowing that her gift is her own weakness itself. So basically, her gift is her strength and weakness at the same time

PERSONALITY
Elena is primarily known for being cold, vigilant, and intelligent, by everyone. Her bond with her family went apart little by little due to being away from them for 15 years. She is willing to do everything just to keep her family safe from danger, even from herself. During these 15 years of loneliness, she's was filled with depression and anxiety to everything she sees, even small things, and that shows how much trauma she went through as a kid. She shares strong affection towards her two sisters Isabela and Mirabel, but it wasn't the same for Luisa, but she tries to spend some time with her so her bonds with her can be equal like her other bonds. Elena is one of the few people who always gives negative emotions on theirselves partially due to the past

She had a childhood friend, now boyfriend who she was in love with ever since they were kids. During these 15 years, Ernesto Garcia was the only one she ever loved and interested in her life, showing her loyalty to him. But she never expressed her feelings to Ernesto properly, back then, knowing that they were still young and too young to know about love.

Elena is also known to have more maturity than Isabela and Dolores because of her responsibilities to the town at 4 years old. Elena was also called being the twin sister of Isabela for having similar faces and lives to each other. Elena was also the reason why Isabela throws flowers to other people's faces whenever they get annoying, just like what Elena did to Mirabel and Alejandro, and eventually Isabela does the same to Mirabel, Camilo, and some other people.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
Elena is a 22 year old Colombian woman with medium dark skin, averaged shiny black hair with side bangs with a purple flower on the left side of her hair, and blue water drop earrings. In her young ages, she wears a white and purple layered dress with the mountain valleys as her design and had a blue flower on the right side of her hair. While Elena has the same facial features of Isabela, they are called twins for having that and had no problems on looking alike together. Elena currently wears a black long sleeved top with a collar for her neck, a black cloak covering half of her body with light gray water drop patterns and mountain valleys on it, she wears a back skirt with blue-gray belt holding it to her waist, and wears black stockings and black boots.

POWERS AND ABILITIES
Elena's powers is connected to Encanto for the elements she manipulates represents the elements that is in the Encanto. For Earth, she can control the mountains and sense anything underground. For Air, she can manipulate the air pressure, air direction, and the weather. For fire, she can grow fire in her own will and is immune to fire. And lastly, she can manipulate the water current and strength and can sense through water. However, her gift is able to control Elena if Elena can't control her gift, and it can affect her body painfully and destroy everything.

FUN FACT: Elena is both the Protagonist and Antagonist at the same

Elena's name was supposed to be Catalina Madrigal before I officially thought about naming her Elena. And she is 5'5, just the same height as Dolores
