Lydia usually wakes up early enough to make breakfast for her and her roomate. It was a rich school so their dorm had 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a living room with a kitchenette. Her first class was at 9:15, so she usually woke up around seven.
This morning she was feeling cute, sweet, and simple. She liked to figure out how she felt in the mornings to correlate her mood with her clothes and breakfast. She went to her closet and pulled out a lavender colored sweater, and a beige pleated mini skirt. She walked to the bathroom and took a quick shower. After that, she changed, did a natural/cottagecore makup look, and put her hair in a loose french braid. She made frozen waffles and coffee before she left. She knew that Malia needed to eat in the mornings because sometimes she forgot.
Lydia, herself, was not that hungry this morning although she was craving an iced lavender tea latte with oat milk. Probably because of the shirt. So, she grabbed a pair of her favorite beige cutout heels, to match the skirt, and walked out of the door. After grabbing her keys and crocheted hobo bag.
Malia, however, had other plans.
"Wait!" She yelled, just as Lydia was about to close the door. She walked back into the dorm inspecting her friend. Malia was wearing the most chaotic Nicolas Cage pants she'd ever seen, and a Nike sports bra.
"What?" She asked.
"One of my friends invited me to a party tonight."
Lydia waited for Malia to say something else. She didn't. "And?"
"Do you want to go with me?"
"Not really," Lydia said.
"Oh come on it's for halloween, isn't that like, a fashion majors favorite time of year?" Malia asked.
Lydia sighed and said: "Only because of the money I could be making if I had a business."
Malia was about to say something else, but Lydia turned around and walked out before she could. "There's coffee and waffles waiting for you!" She yelled while shutting the door.
There was a coffee shop on campus that was about twenty minutes from their dormitory building, by foot. So she walked to the nearest bustop and waited for the 8:00 bus. At the moment it was 7:55 so the bus should get there in about 5 mintes, give or take. When it arrived her and a handful of other students got on. Once the bus made it to a stop that was a three minute walk to the shop, she got off.
The coffee shop wasn't that busy other than one person waiting for their drink, and another playing checkers with himself. Classical music was playing quietly through the speakers, there was a fire in the fireplace that mixed with the smell of drinks and food immaculately. Lydia closed her eyes and breathed it all in. It was warm in there, despite the cold fall weather outside. She wished she wore a beanie or something to cover her ears. They were freezing.
She walked over to the counter and greeted one of her friends, Kira.
"Hi Kira!" She said, cheerfully.
"Hey!" Kira said. Handing the person at the other end of the counter their drink. "Have a wonderful day!" Kira said to the person leaving.
"Really?" Lydia asked raising an eyebrow.
"What?" Kira said, "Employee policy."
"Of course." Lydia said, laughing.
"So, what can I get you?" Kira asked.
"A lavender latte with oat milk." Lydia decided to drop the ice, she was freezing her ass off.
"Okay, and what size?" Kira asked.
"Large."
"Okay, so that's four dollars," Kira said, "And please leave a tip, I don't get paid enough."
"Using your customer service voice on me and asking for a tip, should I be concerned?"
"Yes," Kira replied. "I got verbally abused yesterday by a customer."
Lydia chuckled and put a ten dollar bill in the tip jar. Kira sighed, "I'll take what I can get."
"Great, 'cause that's all I can give." Lydia said.
"Oh, really?"
"Yeah, that's all the cash I have on me." Lydia said.
"Lydia, you can give me a tip on card now!" Kira said, jokingly, "Use that to my advantage!"
Lydia laughed then walked to the other end waiting for her drink. When it was finished Kira walked over to her and handed Lydia's latte over.
"So, you coming to the party tonight?"
"What?"
"Are you coming to the party tonight?" Kira asked again, "Malia told me that she asked you if you wanted to come and that you said yes." Kira explained, with a confused look on her face.
"Oh right!" Lydia said, laughing nervously.
Malia didn't tell me that the friend who invited her was Kira. Kira had a baby face and it was really hard for anyone to say no to her. "Yep, I'll be there."
"Great!" Kira squealed and then said something about being so excited.
"Can I come over and we can all decide what to wear?"
"Yeah, sure," Lydia said.
"Awsome see you at eight!" Kira said walking over to take the order of a guy who just walked in.
Lydia walked out with her drink and walked to the bus stop and waited for the 8:30 bus. It was only 8:15, so she had some time to spare but she had to think about how she was going to whoop Malia's ass when she got home. Because she really didn't want to go to this party.
