Chapter 14: Overslept

"— it's 9:52 in the morning you sleepyheads, you've missed breakfast, timetables and first period!" said Professor Mcgonagall screaming at them all, by now all of them was up and now was rushing to get ready. "How did we let this happen, how did none of us wake up, why did no one wake us up" said a very flustered and rushed Mary who hated to be late. "Did not one of you wake up at all" Mcgonagall asked concerned. "Apparently not professor" said Lily who was NOT a morning person and a little moody from being woken up like that.

"Right, so, umm" said Mcgonagall thinking "There's no way in hell if you excuse my language that you will all make it to second period having there being now only five minutes left so why don't you all take you time to get ready and meet me in the great hall when you're done so I can give you you timetables and the 411s with everything considering you missed that this morning. Also I will have the kitchen prepare you some breakfast so you won't have to wait until lunch before you eat. So take your time and Marlene dear that's a wall your about to walk into not the bathroom." She said starting to panic and failing dismerally to hide it whilst guiding the half asleep Marlene McKinnon to the doorway of the bathroom and shooing the boys back to their dorms to get ready. "Okay professor we'll see you then" said Dorcas surprising the practically most awake of all of them.

The boys made it to their dorm the first time last time however a night too late and got changed and ready for the first day of school. When everyone was ready they all met in the common room exchanged some glances and without muttering a word to one another made their way to the great hall to meet Professor Mcgonagall.

About ten minutes later they made it to the great hall, got handed their timetable and was now eating some food. "Listen" Mcgonagall started calmly breaking the silence, "you must know that I'm not mad about the situation of last night, however I find it hard to believe that not one of you woke up at all." No one said anything. "Is anyone going to add something to the conversation or am I talking to myself?" She asked trying to remain calm. "We don't know what happened Minnie" Remus said not looking up from the food on his plate, "One minute we're all huddled on the floor talking, then we're getting squished so we moved to the beds" He continued, Mcgonagall nodded her head. "Then-" Remus lupin couldn't finish his sentence, "then the next minute-" Marlene tried to continue for him but stopped. "Then the next minute" Lily pauses as she continued for her friends, "your waking us up telling us we overslept".

There was silence no one dared to speak. Lily and James glanced at each other for what Lily has said was not particularly true but no one but them two knew it. For Lily and James had woken up in the night and at the same time. Together.

You see when they had woke up in the middle of the night at around 2 o'clock in the morning Lily and James looked innocently into each others eyes then looked around the room and down their bed. Everyone was fast asleep not making a single noise, hardly stirring, harding even moving but when they looked down and under the duvet they saw something.

That something was their bodied tangled together, intertwined with each other. His one arm around her waist, her legs one by his the other on top bent perfectly in a way like it belongs there with his other arm holding it in place, her hands on his chest with her head resting on his shoulder using it as a pillow, his head on the pillow however in the angle that allows him to have his cheek on the top of her head just resting there as if it gives him comfort knowing she's there and he doesn't want it to stop.

Without saying anything they looked into each others eyes again, her green eyes connecting to his hazel and they both nodded back off to sleep still with their bodies together like a jigsaw puzzle finally connected with all the pieces together not a single one missing or out of place.

"Very well" Mcgonagall said breaking them all out of their own thoughts, "I am telling you this again because you must know I am not mad or angry with any of you, you are seventh years now and therefore you are all old enough to share dorms with one another for a period of time like a few hours however please try to promise me that I will not find you like that again" she continued "all in one dorm, oversleeping and missing the time which you should be in class learning important things, things that could help you in life". "Now you must understand I do not mind the dorm part and all of you sharing a dorm as you are not children anymore but please do not miss classes because of it and stupid mistakes" she rambled on " I mean did not one of you set an alarm?" She asked genuinely curious, "We must have forgot we're so sorry professor please do not tell our parents about this they may not understand" Mary said pleading with the professor, "I do not have a choice" she said sorrowfully, everyone looked down again, she sighed. "However, since you are all sorry and you were only sleeping and made a mistake which could of happened to anyone...and it is the first day" she listed "I guess I could make an exception and let this slide just this once" she looked between them all "but.. please don't let this happen again. Also I think you should know there are going to be some rumours spread about that you may have to deal with for a while" she said with a little smile. "Yes Minnie, thank you we all owe you one" James said relieved. "Yes well your welcome, now you better all get to class before you all get into even more trouble" she said now walking out of the great hall. Everyone let out a huge sigh of relief almost like they had all held their breath and was now letting it out.

Everyone headed to class and luckily they had all got a class with at least someone to start off the term even though it was going to be third period.
