Chapter 2

Roisin’s POV

We went to our reserved table and waited for the Beta to arrive, when he walked into the restaurant, his power permeated the atmosphere, his looks wowed me – he wasn’t my mate, but I wouldn’t have minded if he was because he was so hot. His eyes were the deepest blue, his hair black, his lips plump and red…….. stop I am not a romantic novelist, he is not my mate, but I was drooling, thank God my parent s were able to talk because I’m sure anything I had to say would be totally incoherent, my heart rate was racing and my brain had turned into some starry-eyed mush!

My head was turning him into Mr Darcy, with me as Elizabeth Bennet, when I heard my name being called, “Roisin, can I introduce you to Tom, he is the beta of the Galway pack,” my dad said.

I held out my hand to hold his out stretched one, it was so large, to match his size and abs, “hi, I’m Roisin, lovely to meet you.”

His eyes twinkled, and he took a firm grasp of my hands and replied, “The pleasure is definitely all mine.” I felt a connection with him, not as in a mate connection but there was something, not quite sure what but something, I needed to check with dad later maybe.

We ordered and spoke, he was funny, thoughtful and a total gentleman, why oh why couldn’t he be my mate, he was just so perfect.

The meal soon ended, he offered to show me around the city and then drop me home as dad and mum had to head off, I hugged them, listened to dad’s final warnings about safety and then with a wave of the hand they were gone and freedom kicked in.

I looked to Tom, “They’re a bit protective as you can see, but for the right reasons, I think if they had their way, I’d be wrapped up in cotton wool and kept at home for the rest of my life!”

He laughed; a deep hearty laugh took my hand and led the way to his car. We drove around the city and he showed me places he thought I might like to go, shopping (naturally one of most favourite past times), coffee shops, good pubs and night clubs that were safe as his pack monitored them closely (good to know) the beach, about 15 a minute drive from the university, and most important a wood, which was a bit of a drive out of town that they owned were I could run.

We stopped there and he asked me if I would like a run it sounded perfect I needed to stretch my legs a bit after all the driving. We got out and walked deep into the woods, they had an old cabin which they had built which was in two rooms, in which we could change, and a place to shower after – this pack was seriously organised. I took off my clothes shifted into my wolf, she was beautiful even if I say so myself, she was a creamy white, with caramel coloured ears and tail, my fur was silky and eyes were emerald green. I stepped out of the cabin and saw a big brown wolf there, assuming it was Tom as he gently nudged me, and we ran, playing, chasing, hunting, just enjoying the space and freedom. We stopped by a stream and took a drink, a lay down relaxing for 10 minutes taking in the glorious sunshine, it was bliss. A gentle nudge from Tom and we headed back to the cabin, where we changed, emerging full of smiles. He took my hand again leading me back to his car, “Your wolf is beautiful,” he smiled.

“Thank you, yours is pretty cool as well,” my wolf wasn’t happy with my flirting she was saving herself for her mate and I was, but it was just that a bit of harmless flirting, a first friendship with a neighbouring pack, and I liked Tom…….. a lot.

TOM’s POV

From the moment I met her in the restaurant I felt a connection she wasn’t my mate, but there was something about her, I felt protective of her, I don’t know why I have never felt this way about another female before except for my family – strange.

Taking her hand and leading her to the car after the meal gave me a sense of peace, why I don’t know, she calmed me, she was beautiful, funny, gentle thoughtful, everything you would want in a mate and much more, she wasn’t my mate though and I felt  a sadness about that because I knew she was someone special.

We went to the woods, and ran and played, her wolf was stunning a creamy colour with a hint of caramel around the ears and tail, and her eyes a shade of green that was so translucent you felt as though she was looking into your soul.
