"Ate."

Being the oldest child makes you feel like you were meant to be a parent mainly because the younger members of your family look up to you and emulate each and every move you make. This means that you should be an example of good character for them.

And, indeed, I am the firstborn.

Since I was someone so young and discovered an expansive view of the world, I have been aware that I am different from others. I am a lesbian. However, I had to keep it a secret. Our family are the owners and operators of a well-known church, where my father served as pastor of that church. I had no desire to be purely selfish and bring down his reputation, so I kept it a secret.

He used to point out to me when I was a young kid that it is wrong to possess affection for someone of the same sex, especially me as I am the oldest and should set a good example for my younger siblings.

My dad once said, "You are their ate, their role model, and in addition to being responsible, you should also teach your sibling a good manners. As we raise and preach to you, you must not influence them to commit any heinous sin, which you know is not good in God's eyes; instead, you teach them to be kind, obedient, and especially have a trust in God."

My father's reminder caused me to hide my lesbianism for a long time until I came to terms with the fact that I had found my way back. After meeting this particular person, I became straight again. Her strong feminism and girlishness had an impact on me. And there, I just saw myself wearing women's clothes again, I became even more girlie as time went on.

I used to be boyish, but I'm now a fine lady after I met her—

[Flashback...

"Hey missy, are you enrolling for the first-year high school?" Someone suddenly approached me in the middle of searching for a room where to submit documents. When I saw her, I couldn't help but to stare at her for a bit.

Am I seeing a celebrity? She's so darn pretty!

Look what she's wearing. She's wearing a rose pink Ruffle-front chiffon dress, that cutie heart-shaped crystals embellished hair clip paired with a horsebit lug sole loafers and a cute sling bag. She's so girly! She look so simple yet elegant.

Anyways let's go back, It's my first time to go to this school, so I haven't memorized the ins and outs, for sure she already studied here so I'll have a thick face to ask her.

"Uh, yes. Don't you mind telling me where's the building of the registrar? I really need to pass these documents right now." Because after I pass these documents, I will be interviewed. According to a website post, you must first pass an interview before being admitted to this school.

"Actually, it's also my first time here, at magpapasa rin ako ng documents but yeah, I don't know if saan ang registrar, kainis kasi sila mom hindi ako sinamahan, hindi ko pa naman alam ang pasikot-sikot dito." She pouted after she said that. Ang dami niya pang sinabi, and I find it cute. She's seemingly like a nice person to me.

"Mag f-first year high school ka na rin? or sa younger sibling mo 'yan? cousin?" I asked.

Or maybe she's already second year and she thought of transferring here.

She doesn't look like a first year high school, she looks like a second or third year student. She's so freaking tall!

"Duh, of course, it's for me! I just turned thirteen!" She answered without thinking twice.

"What?! You're just thirteen?!" I said in disbelief.

I can't believe this! She looked like an eighteen-year-old girly!

"Yeah, I'm just tall. I'm 5'5, and, nasa lahi na kasi namin 'to. Why? Don't tell me you're also thirteen?"

Woah? She's 5'5 and she's only thirteen? how about me who is only 5'2 and just turning thirteen this year?

"I'm twelve, turning thirteen pa lang this September," I answered shyly.

"You're turning thirteen in that height? seriously? you're so cute!" I don't know if she was complimenting me or insulting me?

"Yeah, matangkad rin naman ako I think, mas matangkad ka nga lang." She just chuckled to what I've said.

"I know, I know." She chuckled again and smiled at me, "I like you, can I be your best friend?" She asked kindly and smiled sweetly again.

Saglit akong napakurap-kurap dahil sa sinabi niyang 'yon. Maya't maya lang ay sinagot ko na rin ang tanong niya.

"I-I like you, too. And yes! we can be best friends!" I happily responded to her and reciprocated her sweetest smile.

...End of Flashback]

And that's how she became my best friend.

I changed everything after meeting her. I can't help myself to wear pink. That's when I started to like pinks. I even started collecting pink stuffs along with my dinosaurs collection. I have loved dinosaurs since I was a baby. I used to play with my dinosaur toys when I was a kid. I still remember how my mom got curious about me for having a weird taste in toys.

I also remember how she convinced a four-year-old me to play girlie toys.

"Baby, why don't you play barbie? They're cute and pretty. Don't you like them?" My mom tried to convince me to play with girlie toys.

"Barbies are very beautiful but I don't like to play with such toys, it's boring." I answered.

"Why?" She said.

"They are stressful."

"What?" My mom replied in disbelief.

"I just don't like them, mom. I like this cutie pie little dinosaur in front of me. How about you gift me another set of dinosaurs again? I want something big this time. Hihi!"

I saw how she facepalmed for what she heard.

After that conversation, she never tried to convince me again. L.M.A.O!
