6. Anne

Y/n's pov:

Some time has passed after I asked Ms Venable if I could go to school, and after some arrangements the time has finally come. I woke up very early, bathe myself, pack my books and chalkboard, and went down for breakfast. I also grabbed the book Ms gave me just incase I have free time.

While eating my mind wonders on how this day could go. I've always wanted to go to school, I love learning. Just thinking there's a world of amazing knowledge out there that human kind has only begin to explore gives me a thrill. And I was going to learn about all those discoveries that have helped us move on to the future.

I finished breakfast and Ms Venable was no where to be seen. She's usually already at the table when I get there but this time I didn't see her. I go upstairs and knock on her door. "Ms Venable? I'm all ready for school, just waiting for you" I said loud enough for her to hear me.

I could hear some movement behind the door and then it opened. An ill looking Ms Venable was revealed. "I'm very sorry dear but I can not take you to school today, it seems I've got the flu. I'm afraid you're gonna have to walk just this once" She said with a raspy voice. She looked devastating, it honestly concerned me.

"Oh jesus Ms, are you okay? Should I stay here? I should call the doctor. Yeah I'll just miss class today and send Noelle to get the doctor. I'm gonna stay here in case you need anything" I ramble and she rolls her eyes.

"I'm alright Y/n, you will not miss school. Now if you go at this instant you may catch Mr Blythe before he leaves, he can show you the way to school." With that she closed the door. But then it opened again and she said "Good luck Y/n, have a nice day" Then closed again.

I fight my inner need to stay here just in case she needs anything and make my way to Gilbert's house. It occurs that he, the guy I met at the grocery store, was our neighbor. That's why Ms sent me with him to show me the way to school.

I arrive at the Blythe's home and see Gilbert going out the front door. "Gilbert" I yell while waving so he would see me. "Hello m'lady, ready for your first day?" He said while shaking my hand. "I think my heart is gonna come out of my chest." I said laughing. "Perfect" He joked.

We made our way to school, talking about stuff like what to expect to see at school and some topics they've learn throughout the years. It seems that with the first teacher they had they didn't learn much, but now they have a new teacher and I joined just in time to get at the same level as everyone else.

We arrived to the school and Gilbert gave me a little tour. There were two classrooms, one for little kids and one for us. There was a little river for people to cool their milk until recess. And that was pretty much it. By the time we entered everyone was already seating waiting for the class to start.

I hang my coat and hat and take a seat at the front. Not my choice, it was the only one available. When I sat down the teacher arrived. "Good morning class, today as you can see we have a new student, Ms Y/n Y/l/n. My name is Muriel Stacy, it is very nice to have you here. Everybody make sure she feels welcome. Now in today's lesson we will..." I felt eyes all over me. I closed my eyes and focused on my breathing trying to calm down. I've never been good at situations that involve this many people. Or any social interaction for that matter.

Suddenly I heard whispering behind me. " 'Is that the girl staying at the Venable's mansion' 'What was she doing with Gilbert?' 'Do you think he's courting her?' 'I saw them at the tea shop looking pretty close to each other' 'They were touching' 'Do you think she's pregnant?' "

I was getting so tense and uncomfortable that I almost couldn't move. But I turn around and shouted at the girls gossiping "WILL YOU PLEASE SHUT UP!?" I tried to make it gentle but it really wasn't. When I finally saw what the girls looked like I couldn't believe my eyes.

Same red hair, same freckles, same blue eyes. And then it clicked. Avonlea. Avonlea. Anne. That's why it sounded familiar. Anne was adopted by two brothers in Avonlea. When she saw who I was she froze just as I did.

"Ms Y/l/n! We shall not yell in the classroom correct? We'll go over the rules later." Ms Stacy got closer and asked. "What seems to be the problem here?" I tried to answer but I couldn't. Too embarrassed to do anything. And then Anne got up.

"It was me Ms Stacy, I provoked this reaction from Y/n. I'm deeply sorry." I looked down and started toying with my pen. "I'm not the one who needs to hear that. Meet me after class, the two of you." With that she walked away and continued the lesson. "Y/n? Y/n please talk to me" Anne said pleadingly. "Anne stop at once" And she did.

After some time recess came. As everybody got out I stayed inside. Gilbert came up to me and sat on my desk. "Had a little moment there" "Was it too bad?" I asked burying my face into my hands. "I will like to say no but I'm not quite sure that's true. What happened?"

I groaned and looked up at him. "They were saying things about me and you. That you got me pregnant and stuff. It wasn't that what made me react, it was just the whole situation. And then after I turned around I saw her. Anne I mean. We were at the same orphanage and she helped me through a lot. And that same girl that helped me was saying those things."

"Wait you know Anne?" He said. "Yeah, I knew her at least" "Well then I hope you guys sort things out. You'll get your Anne back" He mocked me and left. Just then a group of girls appeared in front of me.
"You can't talk to Gilbert" One of them said. "Why not?" "Because Ruby has been in love with him for two years, you can't take him away form her."

"Take him away? What is your problem. He is all yours I promise, but I won't stop talking to him. He is my friend." A little blonde girl ran away crying and the rest followed her. Anyway. Recess ended and class was continued.

At the end of the lesson I stayed as Ms Stacy said. Gilbert said he had to go home at this instant so I'll have to figure my way home. "Y/n, Anne, come with me." We entered a little room between classrooms and sat down. "Elaborate on what happened earlier."

"It was all my fault Ms Stacy! I said horrible things about Y/n and spread horrible gossip. It was only fair she reacted the way she did. I shouldn't have talked like that about her and I can assure you it will never happen again!" Anne said with a trembling voice and fast pace. "Anne come on, gossiping again? We've talked about this" Ms Stacy said. "I want another essay. This time you will present it in oral form. And I want you to apologize to Y/n." "Yes Ms Stacy". "Alright you may go now, see you two tomorrow." She ended and left.

Now it was just me and Anne. She got on her knees in front of me and spat out "Oh dear Y/n I am so sorry to have done what I did. I don't know what came over me though I take full responsibility on my actions. I assure you it will NEVER happen again and I will do anything you want for you to forgive me." I nodded and said "I forgive you for now Anne" I tried to keep it in but I bursted out laughing. Then she joined in.

"Oh Anne how have I missed you" With that she gave me the warmest hug ever given. After what felt like hours I pulled away and wiped some tears that had fell form my eyes. "Could you please accompany me to the Venable's mansion, I don't remember the way" I asked her. "Yes, of course let's go, I have so many things to tell you. I can't believe this is happening." "Me neither" And that's how destiny reunited me with my soulmate. Best and worst day of my life.

A/N: this was all just Y/n's pov and Venable was barely mentioned but I wanted to fully introduce Anne to the story. With that done I will focus the story more on Wilhemina and y/n. Thanks for reading!
