"Yo, why're you acting like that with her? You're being mad rude for no reason." Haze scolded K3, we went to the courts after school to chill, but he's been acting mad hostile to Jani, and nobody appreciates that.

"It's okay; I guess I can understand why he's doing that. I'm a stranger that just invaded y'all friend group." She stated rubbing over her arm, by looking at her, I could tell it made her feel some type of way but she was trying to brush it off.

"That still doesn't give him an excuse to be an asshole though," Gio mumbled. I tuned them out and put my attention on Jani.

"Come walk with me" She nodded and gathered her things. I waited until we were out of their eye view to start speaking

"Look, don't be afraid to tell niggas what's on ya mind. I don't know what his problem is, but if it's bothering you, say something."

"I'm straight, I just don't understand how my presence aggravates him so much. It's not like I forced myself into y'all circle, it was just a coincidence." She spoke shrugging her shoulders. "I'll fall back if needed, it's whatever, honestly."

"It's not whatever though, Mar. I don't want you feeling uncomfortable around us because of him," and I really don't want her to be uncomfortable around me.

"Mar? You wanna be different so bad," she chuckled

"Of course, everybody calls you Jani and I wanna stand out. As a matter of fact, I'm not even gon call you Mar, imma call you Marjani."

"The government is crazy, but I'll let it slide" A smile appeared on her face

"Mhm, call me Dakota too" Wow, I don't even like people saying my name, and I just told this girl she could call me that, tweaked out. "On a serious note though, I don't want you feeling like you're out of place with us."

"I don't, I just don't know what his problem is with me but it's whatever at this point fr. The only thing that interests me is our newfound friendship," she spoke lightly making me smirk a little.

"Oh yeah?" I asked making her cover her face. Let me find out Marjani starting to like her some of me.

"You know what I meant, the friendship of those who want to associate with me" She looked away from my gaze, "Stop looking at me like that."

"Whatever you say, Marjani," I chuckled, and we returned to the group. I don't care how much she tried to dismiss the situation. I'm still going to say something to K3 because ion like that, and I want to see his point of view on things. There has to be a reason he's acting like this.

"What y'all was talking about that put a smile on her face?" Naji asked raising her eyebrows. I looked over at Jani, seeing that she had a better change in attitude than before. I noticed that K3 was no longer there. I shrugged it off and tuned back into the conversation.

"Girl mind yours, you know they been flirting since she first came to the park," Gio casually said like it wasn't some fuck shit that just came out of his mouth.

"Shut that up, what we doing today?" I dismissed his statement, it was the weekend, and I didn't feel like going in the house right now.

"Shit, y'all tryna go to the movies?" Haze asked while playing with Naji's curls, they are so cute.

"Yeah, and then me and Jani could have a sleepover afterward?" Naji said looking at her for confirmation. She nodded pulling out her phone

"Well, I guess it fuck us then" Gio scrunched up his face making me agree

"Sure is, fuck y'all," She said making Jani laugh. I cut my eyes at her

"That's funny?" I mugged jokingly

"I laughed, didn't I?" she replied making me nod my head, her mouth a lil smart ain't it? Mhm

"Say no more" I bit my lip looking away, we continued to chill at the court before making our way to the movies.

"Not gon lie, that movie was butt" We just watched Dream Catchers, it was some horror movie, but I didn't get the plot. I looked over to Dakota seeing that he was asleep. Damn, the film was that boring?

"Day Day," I tapped him repeatedly. He hummed deeply making a tingle shoot through my soul, awl man. I know he noticed because I saw a smirk form on his face. "Mmcht, Dakota stop playing" He opened his eyes and smiled

"Just wanted you to say my name properly. I'm not Day Day to you" this boy is crazy

"You stay bullshittin" I laughed a lil before stretching

"What would you do if a white man ran past you, snatched ya belly ring out, and ate it?" He asked genuinely wanting to know my answer.

"What bro? Come on" Laughing, I dismissed his question and started making my way out of the theater.

"I'm tryna prepare you for the impossible, that can actually happen, and you need to know what to do when it does" He shrugged grabbing my wrist that held many of his bracelets.

"Lemme tell you sumn," oh boy

"What?"

"I bet you can't beat me" He ran down the hallway with me hot on his trail.

"You are always trying to run somewhere. You better be on the track team," I said after taking a breath

"Of course, you're talking to a state champ rn" impressive, "Don't worry, you'll get my autograph soon."

"Mmcht alright now," we laughed as we returned to the group.

For the rest of the night, I spent time with Naji, and we talked about everything. I feel like I can have a great friendship with her, and I have high hopes for this group overall. I'm going to enjoy my time here for sure.

Bro, it's spring break, I'm trying to update fr but I be in da gym a lot man. Ion b having the time fr but since school is out rn, I should get a lot done. I know I updated every book except for Hooked but don't worry y'all, it's coming 😂 please bare with me. I'm so glad I still have readers after all this time without updating.
