The Island
Let me begin by introducing myself. Hello my name is Quandale I'm 17 and I lived back in Orlando with my dad who is a very outgoing and fun man. We as son and father loved to go fishing together and we would go sailing every now and then. The outdoors was a place I could never stop loving. I loved the water splashing my feet as I am getting ready to go on a sailing trip full of fun and adventure. But not this time.
May 9th 1987: it was 8:00 Pm. I was on a boat heading to Arizona all by myself When I noticed a slight shift in the weather and it got me very skeptical. "Was it going to storm anytime soon?" I asked myself with frustration clearly shown on my face. "If it ever storms in this ocean my probability of surviving is not so high" Quandale said to himself all worried and freaked out. I started heading back to shore as fast as I could've possibly been paddling like a crazy maniac who's just spotted an animal on and about. I was screwed, baffled trying to hurry when i noticed. "Oh no!" I said to myself looking at this hurricane that was going straight at my direction with such unimaginable speed. I couldn't react but just froze. I looked north and all I saw was my fate slowly getting closer and closer as I just stood there menacingly. Not too late after the hurricane got right next to my boat and picked it all up myself being inside of it right before I blacked out thinking I would never be able to see the light of day anymore.
12:30 pm. I woke up stranded on an Island all by myself and with my broken boat 3 meters to the west of me. "How long was this never lasting slumber?" I asked myself trying to remember and let my brain deal with what just happened. I got up and stumbled to the boat wreck all tired and confused. I looked in to check what supplies stayed and held on. I saw some of my emergency tools and a med kit, but no food or water! What was I going to do. I felt hopeless stranded on this Island most likely for days until I get rescued (if I ever did) with no food, water or shelter (basic human needs). I had to come up with a full fledge plan to figure out what am I going to do to survive this hell of a small island with no human necessities what so ever. I began searching the Island for dry bark, coconuts and clean drinking water. I've walked about 4 miles away from my base land which I set as a primary home for the night. I found lots of useful items such as: rope, bark and sticks, plastic and glass bottles and a lake from which I can purify water if i ever needed to using mesh, wires, gravel and a cloth (I still haven't found those items to make a water filter just yet). I went back to the base where I used large sticks, barks and leaves all tied up with rope to make a primary tent for the night. I haven't had any water or food and I really needed energy to continue to survive before my impending fate comes to reality.
The night has passed without food or water. It was really cold. I haven't had the chance to make a fire to get me warm and all those little bugs are making me go insane. It wasn't a good night but now I'm thirsty and starving, "I need food and water right now" I said to myself all tired and weak. I left the base and took a sharp stick I found on the long hike last night. After 3 and a half hours of walking I managed to find my first coconut tree and I was happier than I've ever been to see food. I quickly managed to drop them all down using my long stick and took them all back home. as soon as I got there I took a screw driver from the emergency kit and gashed open these coconuts consuming all their juice and flesh with a huge grin on myself thinking that I've got enough energy to go throughout this night.
I started getting prepared for the night this time using the reflection from the sun on the glass bottle to create a center point of heat that would light up my leaves which i would then put on a bunch of sticks and keep blowing until i got a big flame indicating that the fire is finally on. I put 2 open coconuts in my tent with me while i sat beside the fire and ate these coconuts. "Tonight was a very successful night" I said to myself all proud and happy, but the whole thing didn't feel right, why was I happy. I haven't been rescued yet and most likely will never be. But as I was giving up on my fate I see lights from the ocean to my north. I quickly scramble everything I can and start screaming throwing everything hoping they would see me. It was a boat with two Asian looking fishermen on it sailing in the ocean right next to me. I picked up everything that was flammable near me and chugged it in the fire making the fire ever so slightly larger when it finally happened. They saw me! They quickly sailed to me and rescued me back to Orlando where I was finally free and alive. My story is everywhere on the internet now and I loved showing you my perspective on the whole story. I went to my dad and told him everything that happened and we were so happy to be alive still seeing each other and having fun.
The End.
