There's a saying 'An arrow is like a life, when people try to hold you back in the past, it shoots you into a great future'
What people don't understand is that the past is the past and no matter how many times you bring it up you can't change it. I see the past and the future as having an ongoing fight, it is hard to move onto newer things when people are trying to bring you back into the past. I think people may be happier if they just left the past as mere memories to look back on.. As if it was an old diary or old photographs. Sometimes you can't escape the past no matter how hard you try, you escape it if you confront it and deal with it, but would that leave you happier in the future? In some cases yes, in others I think it makes matters worse. Obviously just saying the past is the past may not help people in some cases as they want justification about it but you can spend your whole life wondering about the 'ifs', "if only I had kept it a secret" "if only I hadn't have done/said that", constantly thinking about the ifs cannot and will not change what has happened. I personally believe that what has happened and what will happen to you is what will make you later on, I am a big believer in God so I do believe God has a plan for everyone and whatever happens, God wills it. That may not apply to everyone I know but it is nice to put faith in someone/thing that you know will help you. I don't know what has triggered this post, maybe things that have happened in the past? Ironic I know. To put this all in a nutshell, I'm saying that you can spend your whole life living in the past and on past events but it won't bring you closer to the future.
