A day after

ADA'S POV

I got that early in the hospital, I saw Preston, called his name up but he ignored me. Nang makapasok ako sa may entrance door, nagulat ako no'ng makita ko ang mga interns ko na naroon sa pit, hinihintay ako dala-dala ang mga kani-kanilang charts, I reminded them and ran off to the resident's room para makapag-ayos na kaagad ako at maasikaso ko ang mga interns ko. Habang nagk-kuwentuhan at nag-aayos kami ng mga attendings, biglang bumukas ang pintuan at sabay na dumating sina Preston at Kieran, I looked down, reading some notes on my right hand when Kieran sat beside me.

"Hey, wanna grab a drink to JOE'S later?" Kieran asked, I didn't respond. "Ada, hey! Drink to JOE-----"

"I don't like drinking, sorry." I exclaimed, moved away from him. "What's your problem, Dr. Zalana? There's too much occupation over there and you're still sulking here beside me!" Reklamo ko kaya lahat ng resident maliban kay Preston ay lumabas na lamang.

"It is not some alcohol drinking that I want you to be in there, it's just... I want to talk to someone with some juices on our side."

"So? If you want to talk to medically, say it now but if it's all about personally, email it to me. I don't like talking that much." I smiled at him bitterly, he looked furiously glaring at me. "Okay, fine. What a creep this early morning, jeez."

He chuckles. "Meet you there, okay?" He asked and I nodded. "Yay~~~~" He sang and closed the door.

Preston is in the left corner, studying, doing some research of some cardio surgeries and he is still not talking to me neither. I badly wanted to have a conversation with him, talking some medical stuffs, daydreaming things and everything but whenever I lay my hand on his shoulders or call his name up, he'll just ignore me at all and it makes me worry that much, he's not like this kind of type of a man who doesn't talk to me unless he was super busy with his family matters. Looking at him right now, I don't think he's busy with his family matters.

I stared at him, left him there and closed the door gently and quietly. Sumalubong kaagad sa akin ang mga interns ko dala-dala ang charts nila kanina pa, Gulliver isn't here again and I think it will take some few more days. Dr. Bailey paged us at the nurses station, saying that we have some several burnt patients, some patients with heart failures and attacks and head traumas and injuries because there's a condominium that has exploded for no reason and all of those other condominiums above, beside and below then got fire on it.

We headed to the head traumas and injuries together with my interns, as we take over the patients to its own rooms, I saw Preston assisting one patient on the other room and other corner of it. Minutes had passed, the clock is ticking and Preston's patient is still unconscious when I'm going to look at them; All of the patients we assisted is currently on their way to the OR, I grab myself a time to look at Preston's patient condition and his condition too.

"Hey!" I approached him shyly, he looked at me and winked. "There's a lot of patient in the pit and still coming. Why are you assisting them? Do you know them?"
