Maybe they run away scared, maybe they whisper at their friends. Always some form of me is odd, but we're all odd, I'm just a special type of it.
I walk up the steps to the special education room, I don't think I need any special education, but if I have Down syndrome, Oh look! She needs it!
The room is already full of other kids, and I'm welcomed by Melissa, the intern.
"Oh! Amber honey! You're here, I thought you weren't gonna be here today!" She chirps.
"I'm fine," I murmur.
I sit in a chair and read The Girl Who Could Fly.
Suddenly, Daniel storms in. Daniel is the only kid here with no autism, but, he's extremely violent.
"GET OUT OF MY WAY," he pushes Melissa.
"Asshole," I murmur.
"ASSHOLE? Well, I guess so?," he picks up a dictionary.
"NO!" I try to cover my head but his speed beats my short arms.
He forcefully hits me several times, my eyes shut, my brain goes cloudy. The distant yelling for Daniel to stop seems so.. Quiet. Suddenly, a whitish-blue light fills my eyes, my brain.
Am I dying?
I see a girl, in the rain, she looks scared, stressed. I get a closer look, she has Down syndrome, too.
Then I realize, that girl is me.
