Roman was following his brother into the building. It was old and looked unstable, but he had agreed to this so he would shut up. Along with the brothers, was Remus' team. And yes he had a team.
It was how he had met two of his best friends. Logan was the skeptic and the person who ran all of the equipment when they set everything up, Roman had started to hang out with him when Remus had moved into his apartment for a time. And Logan just continued to stop by when Roman started his channel.
The team was all youtubers but only three of them had their own YouTube channels. Logan was just the mastermind behind all the equipment, and he helped edit and sometimes film. Roman had had his help several times over their friendship.
This led to meeting Patton. Patton was a medium and was one who would accompany Remus to abandoned places a lot. Remus did freak him out slightly but Logan there was helpful. Logan was level to Remus' crazy. Patton also loved Roman and would constantly ask to read for him on his channel and Roman has always said no. But Roman did his best to find a good fashion style for Patton.
Roman didn't really know the other guy but he was sketchy to Roman. Remus said they had met him on another investigation while overseas and now that Remus had his own apartment, he now lived here. His name was Janus and he was from London. The fact that Remus moved him here, Roman suspected other intentions. Janus' role was an investigator who did the research and kept a level head so Remus didn't have to anymore.
Janus has been here for at least a year, Roman had watched a few of Remus' videos but not a lot because they weren't his thing. He would throw them on while he edited his videos and just let them play so Remus would get the views. It was a solidarity that they had.
Roman had a channel but it wasn't his main source of income. He was a writer, and he would make the videos to help support book releases. Because of that he ended up on BookTube and he wasn't complaining. His job was to write his own stories and read books. When he had a book release he would take a few weeks off before the release and after to rest. Which was what was going on currently.
But Remus had put it on his channel that if he passed a subscriber count he would take Roman to his most viewed video spot and do an investigation. Not even a week later, the count had been surpassed and Roman was dragged along.
Roman agreed to it thinking it wouldn't be soon and he could enjoy his vacation. He had just gotten back from a signing tour and he got a call when he woke up the next morning that they were going two weeks later.
And now it was here and he was not mentally prepared for it. He was not prepared to pack a bag with what Remus said he needed and wore the colors that Patton instructed him to so he could be protected. He wasn't prepared to buy shoes that had extremely good traction so he wouldn't slip and fall. He was athletic enough but he would rather not deal with it.
Did he really want to go through with this? He did promise and he and Remus were on good terms for once in their life so why would he say no? He must have looked nervous because Patton came up beside him and put a hand on his shoulder. Roman looked over and Patton smiled at him.
"It isn't that bad, Remus edits so it looks a lot worse than it is. Most of the time we don't get a whole lot." Patton told him. He then dipped into a whisper. "I don't tell him everything that I see while we are at places. It keeps the drama down and makes it less dangerous. I usually scope out the location before we go in too."
Roman looked at him. "Usually? Why not this time?" Patton shrugged.
"Remus wanted this to be a surprise and that meant none of us who were close with you could know about it." Patton said.
