Dustleaf's POV

Where am I? I was in a forest of some kind, a seemingly endless amount of trees spreading around me. Since my head was still clouded with thoughts, I just began to realize it was dusk.

Great, now I'll barely be able to see. Having nothing else to do, I took a few steps forward, ending up underneath a large oak tree.

A cool wind blew my fur and I heard birds chirping in the trees. Why do these dreams feel so real? I shook my head. Stop asking questions. StarClan must've given me this dream for a reason.

I nodded at myself and walked farther, and saw big structures outlined against the dark horizon.

As I neared a Thunderpath, a rancid smell hit my nose.

I gagged, the stench threatening to choke me. Is StarClan trying to warn me about crowfood!? This stench smell more like...death, not rotting prey.

Hackles up, I slowly walked across the Thunderpath, not hearing any roaring in the distance. Gragggh... An odd growling noise filled my ears, making my heart race.

Since the noise was coming from some tail-lengths to my left, I turned my head. I wish I hadn't. A white monster was lying in a shallow ditch, its head smashed into a tree. It, as well as the Thunderpath, was smeared in rusty colored stains.

Worst of all, a twoleg figure was inside the monster, making the weird growling noise. It was staring at me through some clear stuff, its face all pale and bloody, eyes dead-looking and white.

My fur spiked up in fear, and my mind was racing. I slowly backed away from the monster just when the groaning intensified.

A group of cats emerged out of the underbrush around me, slowly closing in on me. They all had thinning fur, scrawny frames, white eyes, and at least one gash in their flesh. They all looked like walking corpses.

Some were even missing paws, legs, or even whole jaws. I couldn't run as the bloody figures closed in on me. Are they all sick or something?

Suddenly, I yowled at them. "What's wrong with you!?" They didn't respond to me at all, just seemed to be excited by the noise I made, coming closer to me.

My heart was racing faster than a cheetah. Someone, help me! I screeched in my mind. I backed up only to walk into a mindless cat.

In a flash, its bloody jaws clamped over my neck.

My green eyes shot open to see I was still in the Moon Cave, my nose touching the Star-Stream. Shaking, I rose to my paws, mind whirling. What does this all mean...?

The other Medicine cats I had traveled with were all awake, looking either scared, confused, or both. My apprentice, Stormpaw, approached me.

"Dustleaf, do you think we should share our dreams...?" The gray apprentice was shaking, his eyes wide. I knew medicine cats weren't supposed to share our visions, but this time, Starclan may want us to.

Silverstone, the pretty silver she-cat from FogClan, said something. "This time, maybe we should. I have a feeling all our dreams were nearly the same." Silverstone had a keen sense about messages from StarClan.

I gave a nod. "I'll share mine first." The other Medicine Cats, Ripplestripe, Rainpaw, Featherfall, Redpaw, and Gempaw gathered around me in a circle.

I began to share my dream. Describing the dead-eyed twoleg in the monster, the rancid smell, the gruesome, groaning cats that came after me. Eveyrone looked shocked as I described my dream.

Redpaw, a russet tom from SwiftClan, chirrped up. "Mine was almost exactly the same! The only difference was that I was in a Twoleg Place filled with mindless dogs and twolegs..." The small tom shuddered.

Featherfall, the gray she-cat from IceClan looked panicked. "Maybe cats, dogs, and twolegs are going to contract a terrible sickness!" Grimly, I nodded. "It must be what StarClan was trying to warn us about."

Ripplestripe sighed. "We shouldn't jump to conclusions. Maybe the "mindless" cats and such were supposed to symbolize something else?"

"Like what?" Featherfall snapped. "I'm certain it is some kind of illness." Ripplestripe muttered something and padded over to the entrance of the Moon Cave.

Gempaw, Featherfall's apprentice, was discussing stocking up on herbs with her mentor. "Dustleaf, we should warn all the Clans. We could convince our leaders to a arrange an emergency Gathering." Stormpaw suggested.

He sure is smart for an apprentice. I mustered a smile. "Sounds like a great idea. SwiftClan would be happy to attend." RIpplestripe meowed. The other medicine cats nodded in agreement.

"I hope I can convince Coldstar to come. He's as stubborn as always." Gempaw and Stormpaw chuckled at the remark. "Alright, it's settled then. All the Clans will hold a gathering in three Sunrises. Our leaders should make a decision by then."

We all walked to the cave exit as a group. "Farewell!" Silverstone mewed as she followed Ripplestripe and Redpaw, as their Clans were near to each other. "May StarClan light you and your Clan's path!" I called to the departing cats.

They all dipped their heads and raced off. Featherfall and Gempaw followed Stormpaw and I a little ways into the forest before veering off our path to FireClan.

As we padded in silence under a canopy of trees, Stormpaw spoke up. "I hope those..things.. won't really be real..." I nodded.

Me too.
