NOTES FROM THE PAST TO THE FUTURE
Hello my dear diary,
This is my first memoir writing experience. How did I decide to write you? I'll explain it all to you from start to finish, but first let me introduce myself, which will fill these snow-white pages with good memories. My name is Bumin, I am 10 years old. And I live in a big neighborhood that surrounds our house with our neighbors. I love my neighborhood, especially my friends. Getting together with them and embracing new adventures, skating together, painting and doing all kinds of things are the things I enjoy doing the most during my summer vacation. Let's come to how I decided to write a diary. It all started when Tomris was sitting in the park the other day and said, "We should write down these adventures we've had, and in the future, when we get old, we should come together, read and relive these memories we wrote, and return to these days." Then he said, "This sounds very good. In this way, we will not only refresh these memories that we will forget in those days, but also leave a very nice gift for ourselves and for those who will come after us.'' Mete said. Let's take a group picture in Bilge so that we can remember our situation at this time." Me and Kagan liked this idea very much. Afterwards, we went to the stationery store in our neighborhood and bought a memory book and we made an agreement that no one would read anyone's notebook and not say a word about what they wrote or did not write. This would be a surprise to us in the future. Everything started with this idea of Tomris. From now on, I will write you these beautiful memories of my friends and we will put you in a box with the diaries of the others and lock it for future opening. Yes, now that I have introduced myself, it is time to write my memoirs. First of all, I will start by describing the game task that my mother prepared for me and my friends the other day. My mother asked us to do a research in nature by drawing shapes that we can find in nature on A4 papers. We all had different shapes, some of us had leaf-like shapes, and some of us had feathers or flower-like shapes. A nature lover who found all the figures would win the crest. We thought it was a piece of cake for us as we were in the scout club at school and we love nature. We immediately put on our scout clothes, took the items we might need in our bag, and went to our mission. In the bag we prepared, we had a magnifying glass for better observation, a walkie-talkie to communicate with each other, some snacks and water, a map of our mission, our mission paper and tape. Our place of duty was the Botanical Park, which has various types of trees, flowers and animals, right across from our houses. We went to our office together. We agreed and dispersed with Tomris, Bilge, Mete and Kağan to meet at the entrance gate, 1 hour later, where we are now. I started my research with the easy things first. The paper had a shape that looked like a leaf of a sycamore tree, so I started by looking for a sycamore tree. At the same time, I was looking at the others and seeing what they were doing. Tomris was glad to have found something. Bilge and Kagan were looking for something on the ground with their magnifying glasses. He was standing by the lake in Mete and throwing the food he had brought after him to the fish in the lake. "Seeds to saplings, Saplings to trees, Trees to the forest, In my homeland." Red pine.. Scotch pine.. Oak tree.. As he sang and counted the trees, it was as if the birds were accompanying me. I finally found the Sycamore tree. I immediately plucked a leaf from its branch and carefully glued it to its place on my assignment paper with tape. And I continued my research. The second shape looked like a round stone. I took my magnifying glass and started looking for places. I would find the roundest and smoothest one. With a magnifying glass, the small world above the ground seemed clearer and larger. It was as if they all had a purpose and a mission just like us. The spider waits for a prey to be caught in its web next to a twig on the ground, the ants move in a magnificent order and carry the pieces of a spilled biscuit on their backs and carry them to their nests, the grasshoppers jump from one grass to another grass, the crimson-colored ladybugs fly among the flowers as if they are dancing. I was lost in admiration when I saw a snail a little ahead squirming under a stone. I immediately went and lifted the stone from it and was going to throw the stone away in anger, when I saw that it was round and smooth that I was looking for, I gave up throwing it and put it in my pocket. The stone had broken the edge of the snail's shell. Fortunately, he was alive and was already secreting healing fluid for his broken shell. This liquid was clear and mucous. It was vital to a snail. Thanks to this liquid, he could crawl forward easily, heal himself, and since I knew all this, I didn't have to be afraid for him. Still, I couldn't leave it here. I carefully lifted him from where he was and decided to take care of him until he healed. I want my mom to eat from my bag. I took the cookies she gave him out of the bowl and placed the snail safely in the bowl. I continued on my way, putting fresh leaves next to it to feed. Now I had a traveling companion. He was injured, but I was sure he would recover. I focused on my task again, not neglecting to check it from time to time. I opened my paper and looked at the next figure, it looked like a water cane. For this, I had to go to the edge of the lake. Because while Mete was feeding the fish, I saw the water canes on the edge of the lake. I didn't see any of the children on the way back. They should all be focused on their tasks. I carefully approached the edge of the small artificial water lake and broke off one of the water straws, shortened the length a little and glued it nicely in place on the paper. The food that Mete threw was still lying on the lake. Fish and turtles would come and go and eat them. Just as each living thing's creation was different, their way of eating was also different from each other, which was magnificent. The fish first took a small or large piece in their mouths, then sprayed it back into smaller pieces and ate these small pieces. Aquatic turtles, on the other hand, chewed and swallowed like us humans. My companion was eating fresh grass with her head sticking out of her shell. He seemed in good spirits. Now it was the turn of a feather-like shape. I knew where to find it too. That bench where the old uncles came and sat down every day and fed the birds became the feeding place of the birds. Every day, without exception, they would come with bagels or bait and feed them on the bench here. The birds had gotten used to them and were no longer afraid of them. I was sure I would find a feather in front of the bench there. It was like that, after taking about 200-250 steps, I came to the front of the bench. There were bird feathers right there in front of the bench. After I picked it up from the ground and thanked the birds, I glued it neatly in place on the paper. I was so hungry we had to find the kids and take a break. I grabbed my radio and started talking. We agreed to meet them for dinner by the lake. Before long, I reached the lake. Tomris and Bilge had already arrived. As soon as he left, Sage said to me, "How's the mission going, Bumin? '' he asked. "Everything is fine, let me introduce you to my travel mate. ''I said. And I told them what had happened to the little snail. The wise man was saying, "You are very lucky not to die, little snail," while loving him with his finger. At that time, Kagan was coming while pointing at the box he was holding in his hand, "Look, guys, while I was looking for the thorny leaves of the pine tree, I saw a baby bird at the bottom of the trees and I took it with me to have my mother checked. When he gets better, I will bring him back to his home." "He must have fallen from his nest and was very hurt," said Tomris. "It's good that you didn't leave him there, another creature could come and harm him. Once he and the snail are well, let's get them back where they belong." They would only stay with us as guests until they got better. When we arrived in Mete, we found a shady place and started to eat our snacks. Of course, first of all, we washed our hands, which had been holding the stone and soil since the morning. Later, after I shared the cookies my mother made, the pastries made by Bilge mother, the cakes made by Kagan mother, the milk given by Mete's mother, and Tomris the apples given to him by her mother, we ate our food with pleasure. We did not forget to feed our little guest, the cat, who came to us. After we got the food done, we decided to leave and speed up because we only had 20 minutes left on our tenure. When the time was up, we left to meet at the exit gate. Next up was the rose shape. I knew where they were in this park, where I had been many times before. The parts of the park were separate. One side was full of tree species and the other side was full of flower varieties. I quickly went to the part where the flowers were. As I approached the roses, I heard Vzzzzz Vzzzzzz sounds. On the one hand, "Summer has come, flowers have bloomed, Bees have always wandered. Summer came, the flowers bloomed, the bees were always wandering." While singing the song, on the other hand, without disturbing the working bees, I slowly plucked a small rose and pasted it on the paper. My last shape was left, and my mother wrote a note on it that said, "Find a flower of your favorite color and paste it here." I had to find a flower of purple, my favorite color. While I was walking in the flower section, I was looking for a purple flower when a very familiar smell came to my nose. It was the scent of my favorite flower, lavender, and the color was purple. Who knows, maybe I liked him more than others because of his color. I glued it in place. Now that I've completed my last mission, I could go to the exit. At the exit, everyone gathered except Bilge. When I approached them, they were showing each other their completed task papers. I was proudly showing my own paper when the Kagan said, "You're missing a shape, Bumin." Worried on the paper I looked at the figures one by one. I saw that the stone shape was empty. I was about to panic when I thought of the stone I had lifted when I rescued the little snail. I had forgotten to glue it in place as I was worried about the little snail who had angrily tucked it in my pocket. I immediately took the stone and glued it in place. Now my task was completed. At that time, Bilge also came. Together we set out for our house. Our mothers were waiting for us in the garden. My mom also made our favorite lemonade for us. First, I showed my mother my little companion and told the story. Kagan showed his mother the baby bird. After examining the bird, his mother, who is a veterinarian, said to him, "Well done baby, the bird is okay, but he must be tired. Just in case, we have guests for a few days and then you can take him back to his family." Then he turned to me and said, "Well done for your snail, Bumin. Thanks to the fluid they secrete, snails can heal very quickly and repair their broken shells. After a few days, you can take it back to nature where it belongs." Kagan and I looked at each other with the peace and happiness of helping a creature in need. Now it was time for our task papers. One by one, we showed my mother our task papers. He said to us, "Well done you guys. You have completed this task on time and completely. Even if it was lacking, the important thing was that you worked hard for this task. You took your responsibility yourself and successfully fulfilled it. Do not forget that taking responsibility and fulfilling it will lead you to success, gain experience, and allow you to use your time regularly. Being conscious of responsibility keeps you fit. We are proud of you for fulfilling your responsibilities and caring for every living thing, big or small," he said while putting on our coat of arms. While our mothers applauded us, we sipped our lemonades, looking at our crests, proud of fulfilling our duty and responsibility. A few days later, we took my little friend snail, who had completely recovered, and Kağan's baby bird, who had completely rested and recovered, to their place with the other children. Do not forget that "Every living thing is happy in nature where it belongs.."
Yes, that's how I came to the end of my first memory. See you in my other memories, my dear memory book..
