I crawled into a ball and shut my eyes, hands cupped against my ears. It was happening again. This time though, it was worse than it had been before. I could hear loud screams coming from downstairs. Mum and Dad were beating lumps out of eachother again. The same accusations, over and over . Anger bubbled up inside me. I didnt want this to happen. My hands were clenched into balled fists, face red hot with anger. I got up and looked into the mirror. I saw a traumatised, wide eyed girl with big heavy bags under her eyes. Me. I couldnt take it. Everytime they argued I would become worried and scared. The possibility of them splitting up would haunt me, day after day.
Suddenly, the shouting stopped. The whole house fell into a deep hushed silence. Thoughts were racing through my mind. Shakily, I got up and walked towards my door. My rubbed raw hands were quivering as I pulled the rusty handle and stepped into the dimmed hallway. Walking towards the kitchen, I felt a rush of anxiety flow over me like a tidal wave. Why was the house so quiet? I guess I would find out.
I opened the kitchen door to find Mum crying her eyes out while Dad just remained silent. His face was creased and red and his shoulders were slouched.
" Jade?" He said shakily to me." Me and your Mum are splitting up,"
My whole world collapsed and became a blur of blacks and blue. Everything went black.
