"Charlie"

"What?" Charlie says as he kisses my neck.

"You might leave a mark, and we have to go to that opening, remember," I say as Charlie pulls his head up from my neck.

"But I'd rather stay here with you, snuggling and doing whatever we want." Charlie hugs me, restraining my arms and pushing me flat on my bed.

"Charlie," I'm serious; we need to leave. We promised to go, remember? I wiggle out of Charlie's arms and get up off the bed. While Charlie stays on the bed, I rub my neck, hoping that he didn't give me another hickey. I turned around to see Charlie laying down on his back. I walk over to him and get on top of him. I kissed him gently. I try to pull myself back up, but Charlie grabs me and pulls me back down, and kisses me multiple times in a row. "Come on, please; we need to get ready," I say, sighing. Charlie kisses my cheek and gets up.

"You know, I bet people would understand why you are late." "He says as he puts on his shirt."

"What do you mean by that?"

"I mean, that mark on your neck makes it pretty obvious."

"Wait what?" I say in shock. I rush over to the nearest mirror and pull my long silky brown hair away from my neck and look at the big red mark on my neck. "Charlie!" I told you not to leave a mark. "

I'm sorry, didn't mean to. I guess you didn't tell me to stop, so I didn't stop.

"Ugh, now I have to cover this up with my hair." I take off my shirt and open my dresser to get a dress. I pick up a brown dress. It's pretty silky, but the fact that it's pretty long made up for it. I hold it up to Charlie and ask, "You think I can wear this?"

"Ask your mom, not me. I love you in that dress. I don't know if your father would approve, though. "

I'm wearing this anyway because it's cute, and I can fight my mom. I've done it before, and dad doesn't care. " I pull off my pants and slide the dress onto my body, pulling my arms through the thin straps and pulling my hair forward. I turn around and see Charlie pulling off his shirt; light abbs and a sharp collarbone. With us dating, you'd expect me to be used to him shirtless, but honestly, I still get butterflies. He puts on a nicer shirt and keeps on his jeans. He walks over to me and grabs my hand as we walk out of my room together.

I've always hated these long hallways with nothing but doors and numbers. I've always hated this stupid bunker. I'm glad we got to see the outside today.

But about 283 years ago, everyone's grass started to die, then the flowers, trees, insects, animals, and humans. About 400,000 people died from respiratory failure, with blood all over their mouths. That is when people started to hide out in bunkers. But later on, they found out what had happened. Some scientific experiments went wrong. They went so wrong, they were too afraid to tell us what happened. Whatever it was, it poisoned the Earth, but over 300 years later, the Earth has adapted to this new life, the new air. And so have we. Every day they leak a little air from the outside world into this bubble, which makes us adapt to the outside world. And today, we finally get to see it after 300 years.

"You excited?" I heard Charlie say

"I'm more nervous than anything. If anything goes wrong, then all 4000 people in this bubble will die. I respond. Charlie says nothing, but instead, he pats my head like I'm a dog. Everyone expects me to know everything and to control everything because I'm the daughter of the headmaster, who is the big boy boss of this whole bubble. But I know as much as some random person here. One thing I've noticed about people in the bubble is that everyone has a small oval-shaped bump behind their ears. I never see those bumps in pictures of Marilyn Monroe or Michael Jackson, but I suppose it was just a birth defect that people had to adapt to the air.

"Orchid!" My dad says, walking up to me, "We've got the best seats in the house right next to the door." The door to the outside was in a large circular room with a glass dome ceiling. The rest of the room is a darker wood. Behind the wood is 10-inch thick iron, and that glass is a foot tall. ensuring perfect safety. But no one, no one is allowed near the door. The door is a large square metal door that doesn't blend in at all, but it's about 13 feet above the floor of the room. I know it's super original, but we call this room "the dome". It's very nice. It has some plants all over the walls and ceiling. It has a large painting on the left wall. I don't know what it is. It's abstract, but there are tables all over the floor and some food stands. The whole bunker is sunken into the ground. That's why the door to the outside is so high up.

"Ready Orchid? You are about to witness Earth's beauty firsthand! " Say Charlie,

"Barley, I'm so excited but nervous at the same time," I respond. The thing about the bunker is that there's nothing really about it that makes it different than society 300 years ago. Multiple people might think that locking people in a bunker would allow them to make a utopia. They tried that around the 55th year. It lasted until the 58th year. Then, that was when people started to go crazy. After things calmed down around the 60th year, they decided to keep teaching and telling people the history of the bunker and earth, along with all the normal things, including sex education. The only thing I've questioned about this society is how tired we get so quickly. The zeros would be awake for an average of 10 to 18 hours per day! For some reason, we can stay awake for about 5 hours, or 6 if we're lucky. Everyone has a piece of jewelry, no matter what it is. When we only have 30 minutes left, it beeps. Some people like to ignore it, and then, they just collapse. I've looked at every angle and I just couldn't figure it out, but I guess it's just like that in here.

I look up at the door as my father approaches it and enters a code into a keypad, followed by his best friend Amanda, who swipes her keycard, and finally my mother, who blows into a hole next to the keypad, and the door slowly opens eight doors as the sun shines into the bunker.
