I needed to talk to him. He was my comforter and my listener.

I dialed Mondi’s number and thankfully, he answered it immediately.

“Yes, love. How's the meeting earlier?”

“I saw him.. It was supposed to be Mr. Santiago to come but he was the one who came. Aziel was your father’s business partner.”

Matagal bago sumagot si Mondi.

“I am sorry… I didn’t know about that, Keena. For your peace of mind, huwag na natin ituloy ang kontrata. Let’s file bankruptcy and live somewhere far.”

“That would be escaping, Mondi. And why would we?”

“But how are you? How did you feel when you saw him?”

“I am okay… I was just caught off-guard. And how did I feel?” I paused. “I felt relieved, honestly. He never affected me like before.”

“My girl is so strong huh. You’ve faced your demon.”

“But I felt sad, parang hindi pa siya nakakamove on kay Kayle. He looked very sad.”

“Love, it’s not your fault anymore. It was his choice to be stuck in the past. He was given a promising future with you, but he wasted and taken it for granted. Though, I hate it because you were deeply hurt and scared, but I still thank him for being stupid because I met you. We built the family that we have right now.”

“Everything happened for a reason. Thank you, Mondi.”

“Yes.. And tell me if it’s too much too handle there. Konti nalang uuwi na ako jan. Miss you guys, so much.”

Despite of Mondi offering not to continue the contract, I still push for it. It will save the family business of Mondi, it was their sweat and blood for how many generations.

Mondi and I are very happy, tapos na ang problema ng kompanya. Kailangan nalang pirmahan ni Azi ang kontrata. Mondi pushed me to go back in the Philippines for two purposes: first is to get the contract signed by Aziel and second is to meet up with my best friends in the Philippines.

While I was in the airplane, I had a time to think of what happened recently.

It will take time to mend everything and to go back to how it was before. I know Aziel will understand it.

Jiyu gave me unsolicited updates when I called him. Lumaki na daw ang kompanya ni Aziel and he is now the President and CEO, may bago nadin daw silang building sa Makati City. Dina was on maternity leave kaya lalaki ang sekretarya ni Aziel, Joseph Santiago ang pangalan.

I scheduled an appointment with him before I came in the Philippines.

Amaris Building

It was design in silver and gold, it is screaming luxury.

I refused to acknowledge that it was named after me.

“Miss, do you have a problem with me?”

“Hmm. No, Ma’am. I am sorry…”
