I woke up to rain coming down hard onto the roof of the apartment. The air was cold but my body was still warm from the nap I took. I yawned and stretched out my body as the blanket fell to the floor. I finally sat myself up on the couch and looked at the windows.
It was dark outside.
Alarm busted in my heart as I quickly stood up and started walking around the apartment. "Matt? Are you here? You okay?" I questioned, looking around for any sign of the other man in the apartment. "Hello?" I called out as I entered each of the rooms with panic in my bones. But Matt was no where to be found.
I quickly checked the burner phone that Matt had gave me for emergencies. No text messages and no missed calls. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, willing myself to calm down. Matt was missing and hadn't reached out to contact me.
Opening my eyes, I walked towards the kitchen where some numbers with names of friends were hang on the fridge. I typed in the first number I saw into the phone and hit call. It was one of Jessica Jones. After a few minutes of it ringing the line went dead. I typed in another number into the phone, Claire Temple.
"The number you have reached is-"
I dialed the next one, Luke Cage. The the next one, Karen Page. And the next one, Danny Rand. I held my breathe as I dialed the the last number that was listed.
"Hello?" A voice said.
"Oh um, I'm a friend of Matt's. He hasn't come home yet, from work. I was wondering if you had seen him around today?" I asked.
A sigh was heard, "Is this Peter? The drug addict?"
"Um, I guess. I'm working on getting sober though." I said. I should be offended but it's the truth. Right now I'm nothing but a druggie. "I've been staying with him for a few weeks now. He didn't say anything about staying at work late or going to someone's house. I tried calling his other friends but no one was picking up." I reported to the other.
"Okay well, Matt never showed up to work today. He hasn't been answering his phone either. I figured it had something to do with you or his late night activies. If you saw him this morning and no one else saw him all day. He's a missing person." The voice said.
My heart dropped, "What?"
"Look," The voice sighed, "I'll come over and file a missing person's report. In the meantime just start spamming his phone with messages and phone calls. Okay? I'll swing by right now and we can go to the police station together."
I took a deep breath and nodded, "Yeah, okay. Thanks Foggy."
"Yeah, be there in a few."
